Anime Limited MCM London Comic Con Announcements [Sunday 27th May 2018]

Following on from Friday’s announcements (of which you can see here) Anime Limited once again took to the stage to announce even more titles; some of which came as an odd/nice surprise (Cowboy Bebop & Perfect Blue releases) while others were educated guesses from either BFI Anime Weekender screenings or the Anime Limited magazine that was on the booth.

In short two brand new titles were announced, two new titles were confirmed for a ‘superior’ re-release and one surprise announcements in the form of a new anime themed vinyl.

New Licenses:

  • Angelic Layer (Complete Series Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray) [English & Japanese with English Subtitles]
  • Card Captor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card (Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray & DVD Combo Pack) [English & Japanese with English Subtitles]

Re-Releases:

  • Cowboy Bebop – 20th Anniversary Edition (Complete Series Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray) [English & Japanese with English Subtitles]
  • Perfect Blue (Ultimate Edition Blu-Ray & DVD Combo Pack with Large Artbook) [English & Japanese with English Subtitles]

Vinyl:

  • FLCL Soundtrack

It’s worth noting that Cowboy Bebop and Perfect Blue have been released numerous times, i.e. Collector’s Edition and Standard Edition etc; but while its unclear if Anime Limited will use the same assets as those used previously (which were same as Japanese assets), or whether they will use FUNimations 1080p remaster, remains unclear. What we do know is that Perfect Blue may feature a new High Definition transfer especially compared to its previous releases by Anime Limited.

In relation to the new titles, Angelic Layer and Card Captor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card, both Collector’s Editions will receive an artbook featuring artwork and information about the show; but more importantly Angelic Layer (in the US via Sentai Filmworks at least) uses a 1080i remaster while Card Captor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card is a High Definition transfer – most likely – provided by Discotek Media – who also announced that they would be releasing the film on Blu-Ray this weekend.

FLCL will be the second vinyl to be announced by Anime Limited as the distributor had previously announced that A Silent Voice soundtrack would also get a vinyl; although this is currently delayed until a yet to be announced date. The anime series for FLCL is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray via MVM Entertainment within the UK.

We can expect more news surround these releases in the near future; but if you are a fan of Gundam or CLAMP then (at the moment at least) Anime Limited have got you covered.
