MVM Entertainment to Re-Release Burst Angel, Samurai 7, Trinity Blood & Witchblade on Blu-Ray this Year

MVM Entertainment are continuing to support a selection of their classic licenses by giving them Blu-Ray re-releases later this year, as the distributor have confirmed that they will be releasing Burst Angel, Samurai 7, Trinity Blood & Witchblade on Blu-Ray in the UK.

All four titles have previously been released on DVD in the UK by MVM Entertainment and have often been reprinted due to their popularity among anime fans and the announcement of Blu-Ray re-releases is a welcome addition to seeing older titles in better quality and is certaintly long overdue. As an example In the United States, and Australia, all four titles were re-released on Blu-Ray – with FUNimation even giving some titles (such as Witchblade and Burst Angel) multiple reprints in the form of CLASSICS and SAVE Editions.

Burst Angel: In a dystopian future, law and order is breaking down in Tokyo and the Recently Armed Police of Tokyo (RAPT) is established to combat the rampant crime wave. But in the middle of these dark times, a mysterious angel called Jo (voice of Akeno Watanabe) arrives on Earth, and with her partners Sei (Rie Tanaka), Amy (Mikako Takahashi) and Meg (Megumi Toyoguchi), she sets out to restore peace.

Samurai 7: Set in a futuristic world that has just witnessed the end of a massive war, scores of villages are terrorized by Nobuseri bandits. But the Nobuseri are no normal bandits. They were once Samurai, who during the war integrated their living cells with machines to become dangerous weapons now appearing more machine than man. Absolute power corrupts, and their reign of terror is increasing its hold on the countryside. But one group of villagers has had enough, deciding to hire samurai to protect their village. Kirara is a young priestess who travels to the city seeking out protection. One by one, she encounters brave samurai that the war has left behind. These men of skill and valor are each unique and not without their quirks. But can they come together as one to defend the helpless village.

Trinity Blood: 900 years after an apocalyptic war between humans and vampires, an uneasy state of cold war exists between the remnants of human government, the vampiric empire and the holy church of the Vatican. While some strive for peace, an order of vampires still wages a bloody crusade. The Vatican’s most valuable asset in this conflict is a Crusnik, a vampire which feeds upon other vampires, by the name of Abel Nightroad (voice of Hiroki Touchi).

Witchblade: The Witchblade is an ancient weapon bestowed only upon the women it forever scars. It’s part armour, part sentient, and thirsts for battle. Masane Amaha (voice of Mamiko Noto) discovers her fate and battles to keep possession of the Witchblade as two opposing forces risk all humanity for control of the ultimate weapon.

Sadly at this moment we don’t exactly know when these titles will be released, and how much for; however we do expect that each of these will be exact replica of the original US release. This means English and Japanese audio options with a selection of bonus materials and trailers.

Further details relating to each of these Blu-Ray re-releases will be announced in due time.
