UK Physical Release of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne Delayed Until Late February 2021

Spike Chunsoft, in partnership with UK based publisher Numskull Games, have today announced that the physical UK release of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne has been delayed until 19th February 2021 with the digital variation being released on the same day throughout the UK and Europe.

Originally Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne was scheduled to be released throughout the UK and Europe on the 5th February 2021, however while the European and digital UK release of the game will still go ahead the physical UK release has been delayed until 19th February 2021. The reason for this delay is, as explained in a press release, due to delays relating to Brexit and COVID lockdowns.

“The physical version will be delivered to UK customers on February 19, instead of the initial release date February 5. The delay is caused by issues related to Brexit and COVID lockdowns. Spike Chunsoft, Inc. and Numskull Games are working hard to resolve all matters to ensure that Re:ZERO fans in UK will not need to wait to receive the physical versions much longer.”

Naturally the impact of Brexit and COVID lockdowns has caused disruption amongst the entire entertainment industry, both home video and games, but this is the first time we have seen it impacted a release for a singular location. Obviously we can only speculate what has caused this disruption in the UK, one would assume logistical challenges with getting the stock shipped to retailers post-brexit, but it does mean those waiting for the game to drop through their letterbox will now have to wait an extra two weeks.

As it stands Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- The Prophecy of the Throne will be released on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on the 5th February 2021 digitally in the UK (as well as physically and digitally across Europe) while the physical variation release is scheduled for UK release on the 19th February 2021.
