Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I: Initiation To Receive a UK Cinema Release

It seems the feature-length Code Geass compilation movie, known as Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I: Initiation, will receive a cinematic releae within the UK; that is according to a listing on the Showcase cinema website.

According to the listing, which was spotted by Ravenwood7040 on Twitter, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I: Initiation will be available in selective cinemas across the U from the 21st March 2018. But who exactly have licensed this film for UK distribution? Well the answer is Anime Limited; as reported by UKAnimeNews. Further release details for this film will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Currently Kaze Entertainment, via Manga Entertainment UK, hold the license for Code Geass related titles within the UK and in the past both Season 1 and Season 2, known as Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, have been released in the UK them. The spin-off (or sequel of sorts) OVA Movie collection, known as Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, has also been licensed by Kaze Entertainment but has yet to be released in the UK. The films meanwhile, which recap the events of the TV Anime, have been licensed by Anime Limited.

In other news Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms, which was originally announced for a cinematic release during March, has now been moved back to June; that is accoding to updated listing on Showcase Cinemas website. A reason for this delay is unclear; but it is possible that the ‘sudden’ arrival of Code Geass has had an affect on Anime Limiteds ‘one film per month in cinema’ plans.
