The summer holidays will soon be upon us and to celebrate Film4 will soon be starting its latest movie campaign known as the Summer Daytime Films; whereby a selection of family orientated films will be broadcast on the channel throughout the day over the next two weeks.

So what exactly is special about this news? Well some of the films being shown are Studio Ghibli titles with films including My Neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso and Ponyo being shown.

In total eight Studio Ghibli films will be shown throughout the campaign; with four of them being confirmed for broadcast during the next two weeks – all of which we have listed below:

Monday 27th July:

  • Porco Rosso – 11am

Tuesday 28th July:

  • The Cat Returns – 12:45pm

Thursday 30th July:

  • Pom Poko – 4:30pm

Friday 7th August:

  • Arrietty – 2:55pm

In addition to these four titles Film4 will be broadcasting the following films at a ‘To Be Confirmed’ date and time:

  • Howl’s Moving Castle
  • My Neighbour Totoro
  • Ponyo
  • Spirited Away

Majority of these films will be broadcast in High Definition; so its the perfect chance to see some classic Ghibli films in HD; however at the moment we do not know if they will be broadcast in English or Japanese. We assume Film4 will confirm the details on its social media channels or, at the very least, just before the film begins on the channel.

Incase you weren’t aware Film4 is available on Freeview, Freesat and Sky – so there is no reason why you should’nt be watching the films; that is unless you are at work.
