Film4 To Broadcast Studio Ghibli Films During Its “Summer Daytime Films” Campaign

The summer holidays will soon be upon us and to celebrate Film4 will soon be starting its latest movie campaign known as the Summer Daytime Films; whereby a selection of family orientated films will be broadcast on the channel throughout the day over the next two weeks.

So what exactly is special about this news? Well some of the films being shown are Studio Ghibli titles with films including My Neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso and Ponyo being shown. Read more of this post

The Film4 2015 Studio Ghibli Season Starts on 28th March

Film4 have recently confirmed the screening details for this years Studio Ghibli season and unlike previous seasons this one is the biggest, and longest, yet – with 22 films being shown over a two week period.

Starting on the 28th March 2015 with Spirited Away at 1pm, and ending on Sunday 12th April with The Wind Rises, viewers will be able to experience nearly all of the films on one channel, some of which will be presented in High Definition – with the channel itself showing ‘at least’ one film a day. Some films, such as Spirited Away and The Wind Rises, will receive multiple showings across the two week period so that both English and Japanese versions of the film can be shown.

If you’ve yet to experience any of these Studio Ghibli titles then now would be the perfect time to give them a chance; and you can find the full listings on the Film4 website.

Film4 To Broadcast Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises Next Month

Film4 have recently taken to social media to announce that they will be broadcasting Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises early next month.

According to the tweet the film will be shown on 7th February 2015, and after some digging around on the Film4 website we’ve discovered that it will be shown at 3:25pm in English. The Film4 Twitter account also went on to confirm that they will be showing the original Japanese version (with English Subtitles) at a later date. Read more of this post

Film4 to Broadcast Tekkonkinkreet and From Up on Poppy Hill This Thursday

If you fancy watching some anime on TV this week then why not tune into Film4; as the UK based freeview channel will be showing two anime films on the same day.

Starting at 1:25am on Thursday 31st July 2014 Film4 (Sky Channel 315, Freeview 15 and Freesat 300) will be showing Tekkonkinkreet, then at 11am the channel will be showing Studio Ghibli’s From Up on Poppy Hill; both of which are popular films among anime fans.

What’s more important is that both films will be broadcast in High Definition so if you have a HDTV and a compatible HD box (such as Sky HD, Freesat HD or Freeview HD) then you’ll be able to watch these films in High Definition thus receiving a better viewing experience. Read more of this post

The Spirit of Studio Ghibli Season Continues on Film4 Next Week

Earlier in the month Free-To-View TV Channel Film4 started the “Spirit of Studio Ghibli” season, a collection of Studio Ghibli based films being shown once (if not twice) a day in preparation for the release on their latest film “From Up on Poppy Hill”.

well starting from Sunday 25th August 2013 the ‘second half’ of the season will begin, this time with different Studio Ghibli based films such as Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, each of which will be shown once per day with the season kicking off with Porco Rosso on 25th August at 11am, as listed below. The Spirit of Studio Ghibli Season Starts Thursday on Film4

To celebrate the up and coming release of Studio Ghibli’s latest film, From Up On Poppy Hill, Film4 will be hosting a ‘Studio Ghibli’ season whereby a variety of films will be shown across the next two weeks.

The “Spirit of Studio Ghibli” season will begin on the 1st August 2013 with the channel premiere of My Neighbour the Yamadas, with other Ghibli films including Ocean Waves, My Neighbour Totoro, Arietty, Ponyo, Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns, Only Yesterday and Kiki’s Delivery Service, being shown daily during the Studio Ghibli season.

Film4, the UK free-to-view TV Channel will today begin its ‘Studio Ghibli’ season, whereby each day for the next three weeks they will be broadcasting a different Studio Ghibli based film.

Fan favourites such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and The Cat Returns as well as new releases such as Arrietty and Ponyo are all included in the studio Ghibli season, better yet some films will be shown twice so that viewers can watch them in English or Japanese with English Subtitles.
