Spirited Away 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray Pushed Back to 25th October 2021

STUDIOCANAL have recently confirmed that the 20th Anniversary Edition of Spirited Away will now be released on the 25th October 2021.

In celebration of Spirited Away’s 20th Anniversary STUDIOCANAL will release an ‘Anniversary Edition’ of Spirited Away as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray and DVD Combo Pack in the UK and will contain a variety of exclusive physical content.

Akame Ga Kill, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Studio Ghibli Movies Added to Netflix UK

A new month means another large content drop on subscription based video-on-demand platform Netflix UK and this as of yesterday, 1st March 2020, a selection of new anime titles – as well as another selection of Studio Ghibli titles – have been added on the platform; with highlights including Akame Ga Kill, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Spirited Away.

The Light Cinema Chain to Host Anime Movie Season

The Light cinema chain, which has a selection of cinemas across the UK in locations such as Cambridge, Sheffield and Stockport, have announced that they will be screening a selection of anime films between March and May; with titles including Dragon Ball Super: Broly the Movie, When Marnie Was There and fan-favourite Studio Ghibli films such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away and My Neighbour Totoro.

Film4 To Host Studio Ghibli Season from 29th July 2018

Film4, the free movie channel available on Freeview, Freesat, Sky, Virgin Media and many other digital services, have announced that the Studio Ghibli season will return from the 29th July 2018.

Film4 Confirm Additional Showings of Studio Ghibli Films This April

Following on from the Easter Weekend, which saw both My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service broadcast on the TV channel, Film4 have now confirmed additional showings of Studio Ghibli related films; with both My Neighbour Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service being repeated later this week.

Film4 To Broadcast Studio Ghibli Films This Easter

Film4 have announced on social media that during the Easter Holiday, which takes place between the 26th March 2018 to 9th April 2018, a selection of Studio Ghibli films will be broadcast on UK TV.

Film4 To Broadcast Studio Ghibli Films During Its “Summer Daytime Films” Campaign

The summer holidays will soon be upon us and to celebrate Film4 will soon be starting its latest movie campaign known as the Summer Daytime Films; whereby a selection of family orientated films will be broadcast on the channel throughout the day over the next two weeks.

So what exactly is special about this news? Well some of the films being shown are Studio Ghibli titles with films including My Neighbour Totoro, Porco Rosso and Ponyo being shown.

The Film4 2015 Studio Ghibli Season Starts on 28th March

Film4 have recently confirmed the screening details for this years Studio Ghibli season and unlike previous seasons this one is the biggest, and longest, yet – with 22 films being shown over a two week period.

Starting on the 28th March 2015 with Spirited Away at 1pm, and ending on Sunday 12th April with The Wind Rises, viewers will be able to experience nearly all of the films on one channel, some of which will be presented in High Definition – with the channel itself showing ‘at least’ one film a day. Some films, such as Spirited Away and The Wind Rises, will receive multiple showings across the two week period so that both English and Japanese versions of the film can be shown.

If you’ve yet to experience any of these Studio Ghibli titles then now would be the perfect time to give them a chance; and you can find the full listings on the Film4 website.

Spirited Away and Hayao Miyazaki Blu-ray Sets Spotted on Amazon UK

If you are currently waiting for the next ‘high definition’ Studio Ghibli film to add to your collection then prepare to get excited; as Amazon UK have recently listed not one but two very special Blu-ray sets.

First up is the long overdue Blu-ray release of Spirited Away, a film which is one of my personal favourites, which is currently priced at £24.99 and is scheduled for release on the 3rd November 2014. The second title to be released is actually a Hayao Miyazaki box set; a set celebrating the works of Hayao Mizyazaki’s by containing a variety of Studio Ghibli films that he has worked on; this particular set comes with a listing price of £249.99, which is far more expensive than any other anime release i’ve seen, and will also be released on the 3rd November 2014.

Details are scarce for both releases but judging from UK Anime Network they assume that the Hayao Miyazaki set will be ‘identical’ to the one released in Japan several months ago; whereby the set would contain all of the films that Miyazaki has been involved with as well as a variety of short films and bonus content.

Eitherway both Spirited Away and the Hayao Miyazaki sets are coming to the UK on Blu-ray and will be distributed by STUDIOCANAL; the current UK distributor for Studio Ghibli films, on the 3rd November 2014.
