Animatsu Acquries Gatchaman Crowds for UK Release

Gatchaman-Crowds

Last week Animatsu officially arrived onto the UK scene by announcing its intentions and presence for the UK Anime Market; and today that presence has been expanded with the confirmation, via the latest issue of NEO, that Animatsu have acquired the UK rights to Gatchaman Crowds.

As we don’t have a copy of NEO ourselves we don’t know if ‘any additional’ details were listed; so in the meantime here is a synopsis of what to expect from the anime itself: Read more of this post

mai_mai_miracle_promo

Those of you who were hoping to receive Anime Limited’s Blu-ray and/or DVD release of Mai Mai Miracle later this year will be disappointed to hear that it will not be available until next year due to issues with the English Dub’s script.

Anime Limited Extends Licensing Rights for Kill La Kill

Kill_la_Kill_Ep1_04

Anime Limited have today announced that they have extended their UK distribution license for the currently streaming anime series, Kill La Kill.

Their previous license allowed them to stream the series within the UK via their Wakanim Streaming Service, however this extended license now allows them to sell the series digitally and, in the future, release a home video (DVD or Blu-ray) release of the series into the UK.

Following on from the news last week, we’re happy to confirm that Anime Limited have secured all UK rights for Kill la Kill and will be offering the entire series to download through the premium service of http://Wakanim.co.uk/ in the very near future.

Its assumed that once the series ends Wakanim will be able to offer it on a “download-to-own” purchase model, and then into future a DVD (and possibly) Blu-ray release will become available to purchase.

While Kill La Kill will be available to purchase digitally (in the very near future) the home video release is still a long-ways-off, but it’s nice to know that it will be coming to the UK in DVD Format.

Anime Limited’s Blu-ray Release of Gurren Lagann to include Both Movies & OVA Series

gurren_lagann_screenshot_simon_kamiya

File this under ‘slightly old news’ but last Friday Anime Limited (also known as All The Anime) announced on their Facebook page that the upcoming Blu-ray release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will include the two Gurren Lagann movies as well as the parallel works OVA Series, both of which have never been released within the UK.

With your copy of TTGL on blu-ray, you will now get the 2 TTGL movies AND the parellel works! That’s right – we’re throwing in all those extras with the set! These will be split between the 2 blu-ray sets. How & what will be where, we’re still waiting on licensor approval. But rest assured, you’ll be getting all the goodies with your blu-ray copy of Gurren Lagann! AND it won’t be $500

For those unaware the first movie (Childhoods end) acts as a summary to the first 15 episodes, while the second movie (The lights in the Sky are Stars) acts as a sequel to the overall series. The Parallel Works OVA episodes on the other hand are alternative stories set to songs from the series original soundtrack. Since the movies and OVA Series has not been dubbed into English, they will be provided in Japanese with English subtitles.

It is currently not known if these ‘extras’ will be included with the DVD edition of the series, but Anime Limited has confirmed that they will be included with the Blu-ray Edition, which is being released over two sets. Both the DVD & Blu-ray Editions are currently expected to be released later this year.

RahXephon_wide

File this under slightly ‘old news’  but 101 Films, the distributor who released Elfen Lied earlier in the year, will shortly be releasing Lady Death and RahXephon later this year.

Both titles were originally released into the UK by ADV Films but now 101 Films will be re-releasing them into the UK, with both titles set to arrive on the 26th August 2013. Futhermore RahXephon will be released as a ‘complete collection’ with both the TV Series and Movie bundled into one box.

Lady Death:

Since Lady Death is a feature-length-movie based upon the US Comic Book, it will be presented on a single DVD Disc.

She reluctantly accepts Lucifer’s offer of life in hell over a hideous painful death. Lucifer’s offer takes a diabolical twist as she discovers her true origins and the existing fate of her lost love and departed mother.

Unable to corrupt a soul of such purity, Lucifer banishes Hope to the horrors of hell, where she must find the strength and courage to survive and ultimately return to free the souls of the ones she loves. Together with the valiant outcast, Cremator and her trusted companions, Vassago and the Nameless Wolves, she is transformed into the powerful warrior LADY DEATH and challenges the Lord of Lies for control of Hell itself.

RahXephon:

This 101 Films release of RahXephon will feature the entire series along with its feature length movie across a variety of DVD Discs.

RahXephon_boxart_smallIt is a new reality. For 15 years, the remnants of the human race have fought against the alien Mu and their unstoppable giant Dolem; a battle mankind seems destined to lose. But deep within the captured city of Tokyo, where time flows on a different path and mind-wiped citizens do not even know that they have been conquered, there is something that the Mu fears more than all of mankind’s weapons.

To find that secret, one young woman must penetrate the domed walls of Tokyo Jupiter and find a single young man, a young man upon whom the fate of all humanity depends… for in his heart lies the power of RahXephon, and with it all the worlds can be remade.

Lady Death and RahXephon are currently listed for release on the 26th August 2013 and both are currently available to pre-order from Anime-On-Line.

Anime Limited Confirms 3D Blu-ray Release of 009 RE:Cyborg

009RE_CYBORG_SCREENSHOT
A few days ago Twitter User @Agent347 noticed that a listing for a Collectors Edition of the CGI animated film 009 RE:Cyborg had appeared on Amazon UK, with the distributor listed as 101 Anime, despite Anime Limited distributing it within UK Cinema’s earlier this year.

After confronting Anime Limited about the listing, they confirmed that the ‘Collectors Edition’ listing is correct, but it is themselves (Anime Limited) that will be releasing it and not 101 Films.

Basically after its successful stint at Cinemas, Anime Limited will be releasing 009 RE:Cyborg as a Collectors Edition Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack. Exact details, such as special features or packaging details, have yet to be confirmed but we do know that it will include both the 3D and 2D versions of the film on Blu-ray Discs along with a separate DVD edition of the film.

The Collector’s Edition bundle of 009 RE: Cyborg Collector is currently listed for release on the 13th January 2014.

Anime Limited License A Letter To Momo for UK Theatrical Release

a_letter_to_momoAnime Limited have recently announced that they will be releasing the Hiroyuki Okiura directed film, A Letter To Momo, as a UK wide cinema release, with showings starting later this year.

For those unaware A Letter to Momo is an anime-drama that follows the story of Momo, an 11 year old girl whose entire world has been rocked by the untimely death of her father. Forced to leave her life in Tokyo and move to the small island where her mother grew up, Momo is tormented by a letter her father wrote to her – a letter containing only two words: Dear Momo. Soon after her arrival on the island, mysterious goings-on begin to torment the residents and Momo decides to uncover the truth behind them once and for all.

The film was originally shown in 2011 at the Toronto International Film Festival and has since become a cult-favourite, with director Hiroyuki Okiura and Production I.G joining forces to create magical, emotional and wonderful story, as Andrew Partridge, preside of Anime Limited explains:

‘I’ve had my eyes on Momo ever since it screened at Scotland Loves Anime in 2011 – we’re very excited to have this in our catalog and will be organising a limited theatrical run as soon as the dub is completed in the USA!”’

As Andrew mentioned, as soon as the English Dub is produced then Anime Limited will begin screening the film in a variety of Cinemas across the UK, with exact locations and times to be confirmed in the coming months.

Anime Limited Puts Cowboy Bebop Part 1 Blu-ray up for Pre-Order

cowboy_bebop_spike_faye

Anime Limited has today announced, via Twitter, that Part 1 of the High Definition re-master of Cowboy Bebop is now available to pre-order from Amazon UK for £29.99.

It was originally expected that Anime Limited would release Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray as a ‘complete series’ boxset, however it turns out that they will instead be releasing it as two Blu-ray sets, which follows the same release pattern as Madman’s Blu-ray release. Unlike the standard authoring method, Anime Limited will be authoring the Blu-ray discs themselves with Madman using the same discs.

Either way, Part 1 of Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray will be released on the 29th July 2013 for £29.99 and it will feature episodes 1-13 over two Blu-ray discs.
