Pokémon: Indigo League To Be Released on Blu-ray & DVD Within the UK This October

Following on from the announcement of three ‘classic’ anime films making the leap to Blu-ray later this year UK Anime Distributor Manga Entertainment UK have now announced that they will also be releasing the original Pokemon TV Anime series, known as Pokémon: Indigo League, onto Blu-ray and DVD later this year. Samurai Warriors Release Date Pushed Back to July

The Heroic Legend of Arslan Now Available on FUNimation NOW UK

If you’ve been waiting to watch The Heroic Legend of Arslan through FUNimation NOW UK then you would have been out of luck, as the series was not eligble for viewing inside of the UK; however it seems FUNimation have now settled the streaming agreement as the entire first season, in both English and Japanese with English Subtitles, is now available to view through their subscription based streaming service. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Licensed by Manga Entertainment UK for Home Video Release

Following on from the news that Manga Entertainment UK would be releasing Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s within the UK later this year the UK Anime Distributor have today announced that they will also be releasing Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, which is considered the true sequel to the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal; a brand a new storyline set in the distant future with a whole new set of card, abilities and enemies to defeat.

All three series will be released on DVD, in their 4Kids Entertainment Dub format, as individual season sets in the near future. As it stands no ‘release plans’ have been laid out; but we do know that Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s will see it’s Season 1 Collection released on the 5th September 2016 within the UK. Read more of this post

Picturehouse Cinemas to Take Part in Studio Ghibli Forever UK Cinema Season

Picturehouse Cinemas, the independent cinema chain thats mostly based around the London area, have recently announced that they will be taking part in a Studio Ghibli season known as Studio Ghibli Forever; an event which will see the near entire back catalogue of Studio Ghibli films shown on the big-screen. The Film4 2015 Studio Ghibli Season Starts on 28th March

Film4 have recently confirmed the screening details for this years Studio Ghibli season and unlike previous seasons this one is the biggest, and longest, yet – with 22 films being shown over a two week period.

Starting on the 28th March 2015 with Spirited Away at 1pm, and ending on Sunday 12th April with The Wind Rises, viewers will be able to experience nearly all of the films on one channel, some of which will be presented in High Definition – with the channel itself showing ‘at least’ one film a day. Some films, such as Spirited Away and The Wind Rises, will receive multiple showings across the two week period so that both English and Japanese versions of the film can be shown.

If you’ve yet to experience any of these Studio Ghibli titles then now would be the perfect time to give them a chance; and you can find the full listings on the Film4 website.

Manga Entertainment UK to Distribute Yu-Gi-Oh! Within the UK; First Season Due Out Next Month

Treat this as a ‘potential’ rumour for now; but according to the Anime News Network, and a listing on Anime-On-Line, Manga Entertainment UK will be releasing the 4Kids Produced version of Yu-Gi-Oh! on DVD within the UK – starting with the first season on the 17th November 2014.

We’ve yet to receive confirmation from MangaUK themselves but seeing as Anime-On-Line has a product listing for it then we get treat this release as fact; additionally with the London MCM Comic Con coming-up it suggests that Anime-On-Line has ‘accidentially’ listed the product before the distributor has had chance to announce it at the event. Manga UK Confirms Acquistion of the original Dragon Ball TV Series

We knew it would’nt be too long before Manga Entertainment UK announced that they had acquried the UK Distribution rights to the original Dragon Ball TV Series, especially after their little “clue” on twitter several days ago, but even so the UK Distributor has today taken to Youtube to confirm that they have acquried the UK distribution rights to the series with the first set being released in May.

Spanning 153 Episodes the original Dragon Ball TV Series will be released across 5 Season sets over the course of 7 months, each of which will feature a particular collection of sagas.

The first season set, which is being released on the 5th May 2014 will include the Emperor Pilaf and Tournament Saga’s with each episode being Digitally remastered and uncut in the original 4:3 Aspect Ratio, the same ratio used on the recent Dragon Ball GT season releases.

The Spirit of Studio Ghibli Season Continues on Film4 Next Week

Earlier in the month Free-To-View TV Channel Film4 started the “Spirit of Studio Ghibli” season, a collection of Studio Ghibli based films being shown once (if not twice) a day in preparation for the release on their latest film “From Up on Poppy Hill”.

well starting from Sunday 25th August 2013 the ‘second half’ of the season will begin, this time with different Studio Ghibli based films such as Spirited Away, Porco Rosso, Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, each of which will be shown once per day with the season kicking off with Porco Rosso on 25th August at 11am, as listed below. The Spirit of Studio Ghibli Season Starts Thursday on Film4

To celebrate the up and coming release of Studio Ghibli’s latest film, From Up On Poppy Hill, Film4 will be hosting a ‘Studio Ghibli’ season whereby a variety of films will be shown across the next two weeks.

The “Spirit of Studio Ghibli” season will begin on the 1st August 2013 with the channel premiere of My Neighbour the Yamadas, with other Ghibli films including Ocean Waves, My Neighbour Totoro, Arietty, Ponyo, Whisper of the Heart, The Cat Returns, Only Yesterday and Kiki’s Delivery Service, being shown daily during the Studio Ghibli season.

The Spirit of Studio Ghibli season will begin on the 1st August 2013, with My Neighbours Yamadas, and will end on the Friday 9th August 2013 with Kiki’s Delivery Service. Film4 is available on Digital TV (Freeview Channel 15), Sky (Channel 315 & 316), Freesat (channel 300 & 301) as well as Virgin Media (channels 248 – 430).
