Patema Inverted Kickstarter Reaches First Stretch Goal

It has been exactly a week since Anime Limited launch their Kickstarter campaign for Patema Inverted, and since then the campaign has not only reached it’s target of £16,000 but it has also reached it’s first stretch goal of £25,000.

Of course compared to some other Kickstarter Projects, such as Ankama’s Kickstarter for Wakfu,  £25,000 isn’t that much – but considering this is just for the UK Anime market and with three weeks still to go this is quite an achievement.

So what exactly does the £25,000 stretch goal unlock? Well it will allow Anime Limited to produce a unique, one-of-a-kind, Kickstarter-only, illustration for Patema Inverted’s Definitive Edition box-art. Basically it will feature an entirely original and unique artwork that differs to the previously revealed artwork, thus making it a kickstarter exclusive. Read more of this post

Patema Inverted Kickstarter Reaches Target Within a Day, Stretch Goals Added

patema_inverted_screenshot3

If you’ve been keeping up with the ‘hectic’ and fast-paced Kickstarter Campaign for Anime Limited’s “Ultimate Edition” release of Patema Inverted, then you’ll already be aware that within a single day (if not 5 hours) the target goal of £16,000 was met, and now three days later over £22,000 has been raised with stretch goals added.

The target of £16,000 was so that a ‘Ultimate Edition’ of Patema Inverted could be produced alongside Regular and Collectors Edition of the film, and now that the target has been met this Ultimate Edition will be produced. Ironically this Ultimate Edition set will be exclusive to Kickstarter (currently priced at £40) and only 1500 will be made, with less than 1000 units currently remaining. Read more of this post

Scotland Loves Animation To Go on Tour Around Scotland This Summer

scotland-loves-anime-logo

Anime fans in Scotland will be interested to hear that the Anime Festival Scotland Loves Animation will be going on tour, with it bringing a variety of Anime films to various venues across Scotland.

If you do not live in Scotland, or can’t get up there, then obviously this news will be a bit of a disappointment – but its nice to see Anime films being taken seriously and used in mysterious new ways. Anyway the tour has ‘technically’ already started, as it began on the 18th April 2014, but the first film being shown isn’t until 11th May 2014 so there is still some time to book seats and arrange travel. Patema_Inverted_Screenshot

Anime Limited, or more commonly known as as All The Anime, have today revealed their second Kickstarter campaign, this time it is for the upside-down film Patema Inverted.

As you may already be aware Patema Inverted will be shown in Cinemas across the UK later this week, but in the meantime Anime Limited are working hard in the background in order to create a home video release of the film, and this is where the kickstarter campaign comes into effect.

Anime Limited are looking to secure £16,000 so that a Standard, Collectors Edition and Ultimate Edition of Patema Inverted could be created, with the Ultimate Edition being exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign. That’s not all as the Ultimate Edition will only be limited to 1,500 copies, thus making it the ideal collectors item. Read more of this post

Patema Inverted To Be Shown in Selected Cinemas from 16th May

Patema_Inverted_Screenshot

File this under slightly old news (it’s been a relatively busy week) but Anime Limited have finally nailed down the locations and times for Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s sci-fi based anime film Patema Inverted.

Patema Inverted is a feature length anime film that see’s Patema saved by a teen boy named Age and soon discovers that on this strange surface world, the floor has become her ceiling. Not only that but Age’s country is a harsh, propagandaridden tyranny where people are forbidden to look upwards. With all underground dwellers seen as unholy sinners, Patema soon finds herself pursued by the secret police. Together with her new friend, she must uncover the dark conspiracy that lurks behind their two inverted worlds and live to tell the tale.

We’ve yet to see the film personally, but it has been well received within the anime community, and now everyone will be able to witness the film for themselves as Anime Limited have confirmed a list of locations, cinemas and screening dates for the film – with more titles being added to the official Patema Inverted website. Anime Limited Licenses Patema Inverted for UK Theatrical & Home Video Release

Patema_Inverted_Screenshot

Anime Limited, also known as All The Anime, have today announced that they have licensed Patema Inverted for distribution within the UK, however unlike Perfect Blue the film will receive a “limited run” in Cinemas across the UK in addition to a DVD and Blu-ray Release.

Just like “major blockbuster films” Patema Inverted will be shown in Cinemas throughout the UK, with dates and locations to be revealed in the future. Shortly after its theatrical release Anime Limited will release the film onto Blu-ray and DVD, as Andrew Partridge, founder and president of Anime Limited explains:

“We’re very excited to bring the visual and storytelling treat that is Patema Inverted to the UK for theatrical release. Having such a film made available to cinema-goers is what we strive to do here at Anime Limited. Being able to also bring the film to home video allows us to provide UK anime audiences with a full service experience.”

For those unaware Patema Inverted is the latest cinematic offering from Yasuhiro Yoshiura, director of the much loved (and previously kickstarted) Time of Eve OVA Series. The film itself is set in a unique underground world where an adventurous young princess, Patema, sets to explore the ‘danger zone’ – the region where passage has been forbidden by the leaders of the community. As she investigates the ‘danger’, Patema soon discovers just what’s going on right under her feet.

The film was released ‘this month’ in Japan, and now Anime Limited hopes to distribute it into the UK in the near future. I’m assuming that Patema Inverted being released into the UK is a result of “positive” subtitle only feedback from their recent survey, that is unless an English Dub is currently in the works.

Either way, Anime Limited have licensed Patema Inverted and it will be released into the UK on both DVD and Blu-ray with a limited cinematic run beforehand.
