Sunny Side Battle OVA To Be Included with Day 1 Editions of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution

With Bandai Namco Games latest videogame instalment of the Naruto Shippuden franchise, entitled Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, due out next month i thought i’d point out that all Day 1 / Rivals Edition Versions of the game will include the bonus Anime OVA Episode Sunny Side Battle.

Exact details of this special OVA episode are still scarce but we do know it is a breakfast themed comedy special which sees Itachi Uchiha making breakfast while his younger brother Sasuke lands himself in some sort of pradicament and that it will be included as a Bonus DVD inside the Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution Rivals Edition (Day 1 Edition) Packaging. Demonstration: Using the Title Search Method on Sentai Region Locked Titles

As many of you may already be aware the original idea for this blog/site was to provide a list of Anime Blu-ray titles that work perfectly fine on UK Blu-ray players and consoles, however in the past few weeks I’ve had several people ask me about the infamous title search method, a method which allows a variety of Sentai produced Region locked titles to work on UK Blu-ray players. Well today I will explain what it is and show you how to do it. Read more of this post

High School of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead OVA – REGION LOCKED

High School of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead OVA

Region: A (Confirmed NOT Playable in the UK)
Boxart states Region A Only

Price: $7.99 / £4.82 (Excluding postage)

Episodes: 1 OVA Episode

Plot: When an unplanned stop on a deserted island gives Takashi, Saeko and the rest of the ragged band of survivors a chance to expose themselves to something other than zombie bites for a change, they’re more than ready to take a break and let their hair down. Discovering the remnants of an old beach store, the entire group strips to swimsuits and sets out to make the uninhabited island inhabitable, but they’re unaware that this seeming paradise is actually just the dead calm before the storm.

Because sometimes the recently deceased aren’t the only problems that can lie buried in the sand, and as the swimwear comes off and the inhibitions come down, a kink in the island’s food chain sets a truly shocking series of events into motion! You won’t believe what comes out next, but suffice it to say that the deserted island may not be so deserted after all!

It’s an extra special H.O.T.D. that’s even hotter than usual as the naked and the dead come together like never before in HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD – DRIFTERS OF THE DEAD!

Even though the disc is class Region locked you can still watch the episode (and the bonus content included on the disc) by using the infamous Title Search Method. By pressing the “go to” option on your Blu-ray device (Player, Console or PC Software) and choosing “title 5” you can watch the episode, alternatively titles 6 to 10 are the extra content.

This title search method is compatible with most devices and nearly all of Sentai Filmworks discs, usually I wouldn’t recommend this option (as you loose full functionality of the disc) but seeing as only 1 episode is included on the disc it’s not such a big deal.

Manga Entertainment UK have also released this episode as a single DVD disc and can be purchased individually (from Expo’s or United Publications) or alternatively comes bundled with the Drifters of the Dead edition.

Now there’s a new affliction going around, and the name of this peculiar bug is emotion sickness. As in, suddenly your emotions jump out of your body and sic someone else! DVD Review: Patlabor – The Complete OVA Series

It’s time to step back in time as we take a look at MVM’s DVD release of Patlabor’s early days, but what exactly did we think of this DVD Release, and even more so was a Blu-ray release valid? Find out in our DVD Review of Patlabor – The OVA Series.

Drunk drivers are bad, but put a drunk driver in a giant robot called a Labor and you’ve got a disaster waiting to happen. And when REAL criminals get their hands on those same giant robots, the cops need giant robots of their own just to maintain the status quo, right? That’s the logic behind the development of the Patlabor program and special Labor Crime units like Japan’s Section 2, in any case. But what logic fails to take into account is where to find police officers who’re equally conversant with both robots and the regulations? That’s where the motley crew of Section 2, Division 2 comes in!

With ridiculously perky tomboy Noa Izumi and gun-happy madman Isao Ohta as primary Labor pilots and the impossibly laidback Captain Goto in what passes for command, SV2 is ready to hit the streets with their twenty-ton feet! But will they be taking a byte out of crime or have they bitten off more than they can chew? The law of the land and the laws of robotics are about to collide! Read more of this post

Sony Movie Channel to Broadcast Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail, Meanwhile UK Blu-ray & DVD Release Delayed by Kaze

As I previously announced on Twitter the Late NIght Anime Screenings on the Sony Movie Channel will be continuing with the complete OVA Series, Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trial, with all five episodes shown back-to-back at once.

The first episode of the OVA Series, which takes place ‘after’ the original TV series, will start at 1:05am and will continue until all five episodes have finished, with the traditional adverts in between episodes. Additionally  if you miss it their is a +1 service, with the first episode starting at 2:05am.

For the past few weeks the Sony Movie Channel has broadcast a variety of anime as part of its ‘Late Night Anime’ slot, whereby every Monday night / Tuesday morning a film will be shown – with this weeks (yesterday’s) film being Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. At this point in time all of the films broadcast have been released by KAZE Entertainment, so it could mean we may see other ‘kaze’ released TV Series being broadcast on the channel, including Code Geass and Tiger & Bunny.

While the Sony Movie Channel will be broadcasting the series next week, Manga Entertainment UK has took to twitter to announce that the Blu-ray and DVD release of the series has been delayed due to a production issue, so that’s another release delayed by kaze.

The Blu-ray and DVD Release of Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail will now be released on the 18th November 2013, so that’s a 2 week delay compared to the original 4th November release date, however those eager to watch it can of course watch it next week on the Sony Movie Channel at 1:05am on Sky 323, furthermore you do not need a Sky Movie subscription to watch the channel, just a basic Sky TV Package.

Anime Limited’s Blu-ray Release of Gurren Lagann to include Both Movies & OVA Series

File this under ‘slightly old news’ but last Friday Anime Limited (also known as All The Anime) announced on their Facebook page that the upcoming Blu-ray release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will include the two Gurren Lagann movies as well as the parallel works OVA Series, both of which have never been released within the UK.

With your copy of TTGL on blu-ray, you will now get the 2 TTGL movies AND the parellel works! That’s right – we’re throwing in all those extras with the set! These will be split between the 2 blu-ray sets. How & what will be where, we’re still waiting on licensor approval. But rest assured, you’ll be getting all the goodies with your blu-ray copy of Gurren Lagann! AND it won’t be $500

For those unaware the first movie (Childhoods end) acts as a summary to the first 15 episodes, while the second movie (The lights in the Sky are Stars) acts as a sequel to the overall series. The Parallel Works OVA episodes on the other hand are alternative stories set to songs from the series original soundtrack. Since the movies and OVA Series has not been dubbed into English, they will be provided in Japanese with English subtitles.

It is currently not known if these ‘extras’ will be included with the DVD edition of the series, but Anime Limited has confirmed that they will be included with the Blu-ray Edition, which is being released over two sets. Both the DVD & Blu-ray Editions are currently expected to be released later this year.

The story of Alucard, Integra and Sera continues but this time in full High Definition, is Hellsing Ultimate worth the HD Treatment or should it be cast back into the bowls of hell? Find out in our Blu-ray Review of Hellsing Ultimate – Parts 5 to 8.

London’s burning in Hellsing Ultimate: Volumes 5-8 as assault zeppelins, SS vampires and pistol-toting Iscariot fanatics turn the UK capitol into a bloody ruin. The collection opens with vampire count Alucard trapped onboard an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Atlantic, giving the monstrous Major and his army of undead stormtroopers their opportunity to launch a full scale invasion of Britain.
