It’s time to rev-it-up as the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise makes it’s return to the UK in the form of MangaUK’s release of Yu-Gi-Oh! – Season 1; but is this a release that will speed off into the distance for the win? or will it crash and burn? Well let’s put on our training wheels and find out!

Synopsis:

Many years in the future after the exploits of Yugi Mutou, Domino City has become a shadow of its former self: Neo Domino City. There lies a strong divide between the rich and the poor, and bridging that gap proves to be difficult. Neo Domino seems fit to entertain itself with a wild new event called “Riding Duels,” the newest form of playing the ever popular Duel Monsters card game.

Enter Yusei Fudou, a young man who lives on the edge of the law, making his own rules. His desire to reclaim what is rightly his from an old friend turns into much more than what he and many of his newfound companions called “Signers” would have ever bargained for. Read more of this post

Unboxing: Attack on Titan – Season 1 (Blu-ray) [UK]

attack-on-titan-season1-unboxing-front

Earlier in the year Manga Entertainment UK re-released the first season of Attack on Titan as a complete season box set in an attempt to not only fix concerns over the first half of the series, which saw the bonus features stripped onto a DVD as part of the Deluxe Collector’s Edition (which we unboxed here); but to give potential newcomers to the franchise everything they would need within a single purchase. So is this Attack on Titan Blu-ray (which is also available on DVD) worth it? or is it just another missed oppurtunity by MangaUK? Well let’s take a closer look in our unboxing. Blu-ray Review: HaNaYaMaTa – The Complete Series

Hanayamata-Screenshot1

Manga Entertainment UK continues to provide a variety of different anime genres to the UK public and their next release is non-other-than HaNaYaMaTa; but can this colourful and charming anime win over the masses? Who knows; but it certainly won over my stone-cold-heart and so it should be able to win over yours!

Synopsis:

Created in Kochi in 1954, Yosakoi incorporates modern music and classic Japanese dance into a unique fusion performed in teams. However, while Yosakoi has become a growing phenomenon with huge festivals held across Japan, it’s never been more than a blip on high school student Naru Sekia’s cultural radar. Not that much has ever really grabbed Naru’s attention. She’s average in grades, average in sports and in art… really, the only thing that has ever caught her fancy is reading fairy tales. Until the day she encounters her own personal “fairy”: Hana, an American exchange student who is determined to start a Yosakoi dancing club at their school.

Entranced by Hana’s beauty and skill, Naru and her friends find themselves caught up in the whirlwind world of Yosakoi. It won’t be easy and just getting the club sponsored will be a trial, but between the movement, the melodies, and the friendship, Naru may have finally found a fairy tale of her own in Hanayamata!
