K-ON!! has often been requested for a Blu-ray release within the UK and while our UK Anime Distributors are willing to give in to this demand for the TV Series distributors in other countries, namely Sentai Filmworks in America and Madman Entertainment in Australia, opted to release the entire series on Blu-ray. Today however i will be taking a closer look at the Australian, Madman Entertainment, release of K-ON!! Season 2 Part 1 and K-ON!! Season 2 Part 2 on Blu-ray. Read more of this post

UK DVD Release of K-ON Season 2 Put ‘On-Hold’ Until Next Year

kon_season2_part1_screenshot (1)

Over the past few days i’ve received a fair few e-mails enquiring about the upcoming UK DVD Release of K-ON Season 2, a release which was initally expected to be available next month, so i decided to do some digging.

After some digging around i noticed that several online retailers, including United Publications, Base, Amazon and Anime-On-Line all listed different release dates which led me to believe that the series had been ‘put-on-hold’ until further notice, and it seems like my assumptions were correct.

In turns out that Manga Entertainment UK had to ‘shelve’ this particular release due to the original licensor not wanting a complete series box-set to be released ‘outside’ of Japan at this current time.

As it stands the K-ON Complete Season 2 box set will be aiming for a 2015 release, but in the meantime the current ‘half-season’ sets are available within the UK, both of which we reviewed within the past year. Those wishing for a Blu-ray release of K-ON will also be waiting, as currently Manga Entertainment UK has plans of releasing the series on Blu-ray, however with the season 2 being delayed till next year anything can happen.

Synopsis:

It’s graduation time for the members of Sakuragaoka Girl’s High School Light Music Club and Japan’s hottest all-girl teen pop group are about to mark the momentous occasion with their very own Magical Musical Tour in the form of a five-day trip to London, England.

But, despite their excitement, the girls’ minds are slightly preoccupied with coming up with a suitable present for their underclassman rhythm guitarist, Azusa, who is destined to remain in school without them when they all leave for college.

Naturally, once the gang arrives in Britain, chaos reigns during their stay as they embark on a whistle-stop tour of the capital, breathlessly taking in the sights from Camden to Earl’s Court, Westminster to the West End and Soho to the South Bank. The adventure also sees them unexpectedly unleashing their effervescent pop music upon an unsuspecting but highly appreciative British public! Read more of this post

DVD Review: K-On! – Season 2 Part 2

k-on_season_2_part_2_review_screenshot (5)The season finale for K-ON has arrived, but does it provide musical entertainment or just more ditzy (Yui styled) comedy? well we find out in our DVD Review of K-ON – Season 2 Part 2.

Synopsis:

Sometimes music and words come together so perfectly that the combination is far more powerful than either would be alone. In much the same way, the five members of the Sakuragaoka Girl’s High School’s Light Music Club have become far more than just a group of girls with similar interests; more, even, than just a group of friends. Through the medium of music they’ve found a common course in life, and whatever the future may bring, they know they can get through it if they stand together… which makes the coming end of the school year and the graduation of the four older members something that’s dreaded as much as it’s looked forward to.

In the meantime, however, there’s so much going on it’s as life has decided to throw everything it can at them. Going to music festivals won’t be hard to swing, but running a marathon? That will be a stretch! Yearbook photos? The horror! And a school play with Mio and Ritsu cast as Romeo and Juliet? Ooo, awkward. Then, of course, there’s one big final performance for the band!
