Blu-ray Review: Harlock – Space Pirate

I take a trip into space with a well-known space pirate but was it a great voyage or did i walk the plank? Well find out, and more, in our latest Manga Entertainment UK review for Harlock: Space Pirate.

Synopsis:

As humanity’s space empire collapses, 500 billion colonists pour back to re-settle their mother planet. With Earth unable to support such vast numbers, the devastating Homecoming War is fought over who has the right to return. The conflict leads to the rise of the authoritarian Gaia Coalition, who declare the Earth a sacred place that must not be repopulated …only to break their own rule by allowing the galactic elite to take over the planet.

This hypocrisy enrages Captain Harlock, however, and the immortal space pirate goes to tragic lengths to thwart the Gaia Coalition’s plans. Now the renegade captain and his crew, including ethereal alien Miime, loyal lieutenant Kei and the boisterous Yullian, are on a mission to set things right – by resetting the so-called ‘Genesis Clock’. Harlock Space Pirate To Receive a Limited Theatrical Release Next Month

Manga Entertainment have today revealed that the CGI film adapatation of Captain Harlock, entitled Harlock Space Pirate, will be receiving a limited theatrical release before the film is released onto DVD and Blu-ray next month.

Although Manga UK have yet to confirm which cinemas will show the film, which we blieve it will be selective Picturehouse Cinemas across the UK, the distributor has confirmed that it will be available in those cinemas from the 22nd April 2015; with the film itself to be released on DVD and Blu-ray the following Monday. Samurai Bride and Harlock Space Pirate Delayed Until April 2015

Although Manga Entertainment UK have yet to make an announcement it seems that the upcoming releases of Samurai Bride and Harlock Space Pirate have been delayed until April 2015; that is according to Amazon UK.

According to updated product pages on Amazon UK Samurai Bride, which was originally scheduled for release at the end of this month, has now been pushed back to the 6th April 2015; meanwhile Harlock Space Pirate, which was expected to release in February, will now be released on the 27th April 2015.
