All The Anime Unveils Q4 2014 Release Schedule

tengen-toppa-gurren-lagann-1As of late All The Anime have been rather quiet with their plans for upcoming anime releases; especially after the successful Kickstarter campaigns for Patema Inverted and Mai Mai Miracle. Well that is about to change as All The Anime have today taken to their blog to reveal the full Q4 2014 release Schedule and there is a few surprises in-store.

September 2014:

  • Gurren Lagann: Ultimate Edition -> SRP £149.99

It’s worth nothing that all Ultimate and Collectors Edition bundles will receive artbooks and come in a rigid chipboard case (similar to that of Cowboy Bebop / Tiger & Bunny Movie); furthermore the Blood Lad sets will include the OVA Episodes.

It’s nice to see All The Anime starting to push a larger range of releases out onto the market; as other than Kickstarter Campaigns or cinematic releases we haven’t heard much from them. Furhtermore while the ‘release month’ has been confirmed the actual release date for each title (other than Gurren Lagann) has yet to be announced so some waiting is still in order.

Gurren Lagann: Ultimate Blu-ray Edition Delayed Until August

We all knew it could be a possibility, especially with Anime Limited’s rigorous quality checking, but Anime Limited yesterday announced that the Ultimate Blu-ray Edition of Gurren Lagann could be delayed until, at latest, the 25th August 2014.

Interestingly the delay has nothing to do with the contents on disc quality, unlike with Outlaw Stars ever continuing delay, but instead it’s related to the additional printed content – namely artwork that is approved by the licensor. As most anime fans will know before an anime title can be released the original licens holder has to approve the artwork being used, if the artwork is approved then the title gets released, however if the artwork isn’t approved another artwork must be used. It’s this reason why Manga Entertainment UK had to change the covers for Sword Art Online, due to Aniplex changing their mind on the cover design. Read more of this post

All The Anime Clarify’s What To Expect From The “Ultimate Edition” of Gurren Lagann

Ever since All The Anime, also known as Anime Limited, unveiled the “Ultimate Edition” of Gurren Lagann on Blu-ray many fans have been asking “what to expect” from this relatively pricey release. Well today All The Anime hopes to address these questions as they have released more details, including a Q&A on their site, about what to expect from this set.

So first off it will comprise of:

  • A rigid artbox think same style of material as Cowboy Bebop’s was made of – but bigger.
  • Nice Digipack inside – to hold all 6 discs.  Artwork  TBC.
  • A hardback A5 artbook to fit inside the box – currently the page count was set at 50 – see below for more info though.
  • Only 2,000 will be printed!   You’ll get an artcard inside certifying the number in the release you have got :).

What’s on the discs though?:

  • Episodes 1 -27 of the TV series, with English dub and subtitles over 4 BD50s
  • Movie 1: Childhood’s End with English subtitles, as it was never dubbed in the USA sadly, BD25 or 50 TBC!
  • Movie 2: The Lights in the Sky are Stars with English subtitles, as it was never dubbed in the USA sadly, BD25 or 50 TBC!
  • Parallel Works – Complete, but will be split in half as everywhere else, half on Movie 1′s BD, the other on Movie 2.
  • Video extras – Whatever we can get our hands on, we’re negotiating now but it turns out the reason a bunch of extras on the US import from Japan weren’t translated was they are exclusive for the domestic release we gather.  Meaning we may not be allowed to use them on our

Basically the “Ultimate Edition” is a Limited Run of the Gurren Lagann collection, with both the TV Series & Movies being included as well as a variety of bonuses, such as the Parallel Works OVA Collection. To make this set “extra special” it will feature exclusive content that will not be released in feature versions of this series.

Despite having a £149.99 SRP (Suggest Retail price) Amazon UK are currently listing this set for £84.27, which is nearly half the ‘retail price’ meanwhile Anime-On-Line is listing the set for £111.99, so if you shop around you may be able to get this “limited-time-only” release for half of the asking price.

The Ultimate Edition of Gurren Lagann, which will only be released on Blu-ray, will ship during June 2014 – meanwhile the standalone DVD and Blu-ray sets will be released during October 2014.

Interestingly some of the titles have already been announced, but majority of them are brand new announcements – so it seems that 2014 will be a great year for anime fans, but what exactly can we expect – well lets take a look:

Majority of the anime listed above will most likely be released during the second half of 2014, especially for Manga Entertainment’s list of titles, as the distributor is already releasing a ton of anime during the first two quarters of 2014 – including Blu-ray versions of Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online and Magi as well as DVD releases of Dragon Ball GT, One Piece and Naruto.

MVM Entertainment have yet to unveil a list of their 2014 anime, but they will be releasing a variety of anime within the next few weeks including Hakuoki, Infinite Stratos and Is This a Zombie of the Dead – all of which will only be released on DVD.

Anime Limited Releases Gurren Lagann Trailer

News on the upcoming Blu-ray (and DVD) release of Gurren Lagann has been rather quiet of late, however Anime Limited (aka All The Anime) decided to change that fact earlier today when they released their very own English dubbed trailer for the series.

The trailer features scenes, and audio quotes, from the early episodes of the series – so of course some “one liners” and “trademark speeches” may sound different to how you remember them. Exact details of how the series will be released, it is currently presumed two half-season sets like Cowboy Bebop was, have yet to be revealed however we do know the series will be released onto Blu-ray and DVD next year – that is currently a fact.

Anime Limited’s Blu-ray Release of Gurren Lagann to include Both Movies & OVA Series

File this under ‘slightly old news’ but last Friday Anime Limited (also known as All The Anime) announced on their Facebook page that the upcoming Blu-ray release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will include the two Gurren Lagann movies as well as the parallel works OVA Series, both of which have never been released within the UK.

With your copy of TTGL on blu-ray, you will now get the 2 TTGL movies AND the parellel works! That’s right – we’re throwing in all those extras with the set! These will be split between the 2 blu-ray sets. How & what will be where, we’re still waiting on licensor approval. But rest assured, you’ll be getting all the goodies with your blu-ray copy of Gurren Lagann! AND it won’t be $500

For those unaware the first movie (Childhoods end) acts as a summary to the first 15 episodes, while the second movie (The lights in the Sky are Stars) acts as a sequel to the overall series. The Parallel Works OVA episodes on the other hand are alternative stories set to songs from the series original soundtrack. Since the movies and OVA Series has not been dubbed into English, they will be provided in Japanese with English subtitles.

It is currently not known if these ‘extras’ will be included with the DVD edition of the series, but Anime Limited has confirmed that they will be included with the Blu-ray Edition, which is being released over two sets. Both the DVD & Blu-ray Editions are currently expected to be released later this year.

Anime Limited Licenses Gurren Lagann for UK Blu-ray & DVD Release

Anime Limited have today announced that they have acquired the rights to release the 27 episode TV Anime, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, onto both DVD and Blu-ray within the UK.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, or more commonly known as Gurren Lagann, was previously released by Beez Entertainment on DVD, however since the company closed down several years ago the series has been hard to track down. Well today Andrew from Anime Limited has announced that the series will once again be made publically available:

Gurren Lagann marks an exciting addition to our growing catalogue. We’re very excited to bring this to anime fans in the UK’.

For those unaware, Gurren Lagann tells the story of Simon, a young boy who after finding a spiral shaped object is thrown into the world of survival and destruction, whereby Beast-men run the world from above and humans live underground digging tunnels. With his new found friends and allies, Simon hopes to restore the world to its natural order, with humans being allowed to live on the surface again.

Anime Limited will be releasing Gurren Lagann on Blu-ray as two-half season sets as well as a complete series DVD boxset, both of which will be released later this year.
