FUNimation To Be Acquired by Sony Pictures TV

In rather interesting news US Anime Distributor and dubbing production house FUNimation, otherwise known as FUNimation Entertainment, have today announced that they will be acquired by Sony Pictures TV with Sony purchasing a majority stake in the company. Read more of this post

Unboxing: Shakugan no Shana – Season 1 (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) [USA]

FUNimation’s release of Shakugan no Shana – Season 1 is an interesting one, as i’ve been told that the Blu-ray release was upscaled by the original japanese film company and then passed on to FUNimation for this american release, however since it was Remastered into HD at the source its considered a HD Native film instead of a HD Upscale, depsite that though the overall picture quality (of the show) is extremely good, though some seems, especially the opening, seem abit blurred or washed out. Unboxing: Okami-san & Her Seven Companions (Limited Edition Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) [USA]


This particular release of Okami-san & Her Seven Companions is the Limited Edition (1st Print Run) that was released in America by FUNimation Entertainment earlier in the year and while Okami-san is an Anime i’ve never heard of before it was actually very enjoyable to watch in both English & Japanese.

Okami-san & Her Seven Companions, from pictures, looks like a re-telling of Children’s stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, but instead its a tale of the Otagi Bank – a place where people request favours and then the bank collects on them in times of need. The main character(s) of the story being Okami-san (Wolf), Riko (Little Red) and Ryoshi (screwup), but during the course of the story lots of ‘interesting’ characters are introduced. While the story seems to offer a light-side, in reality it actually holds a darker side and over the course of the 12 episodes you’ll witness this happening. Read more of this post
