Boxart states Region B Compatible

Price: $54.48 / £32.58 (Excluding postage)

Episodes: 1 – 13 (2 Disc Set)

Plot: Friends suck, and trusting someone is just setting yourself up. That’s the lesson Mei Tachibana learned after her heart was ripped out and only a shell was left where a girl used to be. But unlike so many, she found an easy solution: she’ll never make another friend. Ever.

Okay, maybe that’s not as easy as it sounds, but it’s worked for Mei – or at least, it did until handsome, charming and annoyingly popular Yamato Kurosawa came along. For some freakish reason, he seems to like Mei. He even gave her his phone number! As if she would ever call him. Except she did. But only because she needed help. Still, he came. He actually came. And now things are getting way too complicated.

Mei’s no princess in a tower. She’s not waiting for a knight in shining armor to rescue her. So why did he have to kiss her and confuse everything? And why are those three little words so hard to say?

Boxart states Region A Only

Price: $61.58 / £38.18 (Excluding postage)

Episodes: 1 – 12 (2 Disc Set)

Plot: There are twisted tales and twisted tails, but few are as twisted as poor Sado’s, who’s just realized that he LIKES being made miserable. Of course, knowing that only makes him more miserable, which in turn. Well, you get the idea.

Desperate to break the perverse cycle, Sado volunteers for a special club where he hopes he can work through his issues. And though he probably should have expected as much, imagine his consternation when he discovers that the other members have equally. complex. issues to deal with. For example, the hyper-aggressive club president Isurugi not only has a violent fear of cats, but also believes herself to be a god! Then there’s Yuno, who’s terrified of men; the nurse who forces other people to perform cosplay; and Hayama, Sado’s best friend and a compulsive cross-dresser, who’s also the girl that Sado is infatuated with.

(We did say it was complex, remember?) If you think you’ve seen EVERYTHING that can happen in an anime, prepare to have your eyes opened to FULL anime size as you enter a whole new paradigm with MM! (it’s pronounced “Emu Emu!”)!

Unboxing: Shakugan No Shana S: OVA Series (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) [AUS]

shakugan_no_shana_ova_unboxing_1

With the entire American Shakugan No Shana Blu-ray Collection REGION LOCKED Shana fans will have to look elsewhere for the Blu-ray treatment and luckily salvation can be found in the Australian Blu-ray (Combo Pack) release, and today i’ll be taking a look at what its got to offer.

For those unaware Australian Blu-ray’s are Region B, the same Region as the UK, so if a Blu-ray is Region Locked within America (and is not getting a UK release) it might be worthwhile having a look at some Australian stores (especially DeVoteD DVD) as you may find end up finding what you want. The reason why Australian Blu-rays aren’t listed on this site is because by default they are REGION B, which means they will always work on UK Blu-ray players. Read more of this post

Unboxing: Black Lagoon – Season 1 & Season 2 (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) [USA]

black_lagoon_complete_unboxing

As many Blu-ray fans will know Black Lagoon has been available for awhile within the UK, but several months ago the series was released within America by FUNimation, this time as a Combo Pack sporting both Blu-ray and DVD versions of the series, so I’ve decided to “dive in” unbox it and see what the difference is.

It’s amazing how different the releases are, the UK version had 2 Blu-ray sets, each with 12 episodes and each with 2 Blu-ray Discs, so that’s 4 Blu-ray discs total for 24 episodes and 2.0 Stereo sound. However this ‘Complete Series’ collection by FUNimation contains the same amount of episodes, improved 5.1 audio and extra features, yet it only uses 3 Blu-ray discs. Strangely enough the picture quality on the US release looks better than the UK version, despite featuring more content.

The price point is another major difference, each KAZE UK Released Blu-ray set is around £27 each (so that’s around £54 for both), however the American version is currently around $35 (equates to £21) which is considerably cheaper than the UK release. Price is not the only factor though, as this US version includes a remixed 5.1 Surround Sound English Audio track and a variety of extra features, one of which includes a behind-the-scenes look at the dubbing process for the series.

Of course there is a downside to this US Release, and that is its Region Locked, meaning it will only work on Region A Blu-ray Players and Region 1 DVD Players, however if that isn’t an issue then i’d highly recommend this American release over the UK Versions which are now available.

Either way slight informative rant aside here is our unboxing video for Black Lagoon: The Complete Series – Season 1 & Season 2 (Blu-ray / DVD Combo Pack) which is now available within America.

Whatever the reason, it soon becomes apparent that his skills with a sword may be required to protect the lovely castaway. Dark forces are on the move, the red moon is on the rise, and a deathly wind is blowing into Windaria in the form of pirates, brigands and other strangers, all of whom seem to be seeking Kaguya! Like how to deal with the fact that his “enhanced status” is attracting a bevy of overly-worshippy female followers.

After all, they’re just there to aid him in his demi-godly duties, right? So why is it that their leader, the demonically manipulative sword-mistress Erica Brandelli, seems to have such a devilish interest in encouraging some VERY unorthodox activities?
