SWORD ART ONLINE: LAST RECOLLECTION Gameplay Trailer Highlights Games Story and New Characters

Bandai Namco Entertainment have recently released a new Story and Gameplay trailer for the next mainline entry into the SWORD ART ONLINE game franchise, known as SWORD ART ONLINE: LAST RECOLLECTION and, based on the new footage looks to take inspiration from both SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycrois and SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization War of Underworld.

As a reminder the SWORD ART ONLINE games are not an exact retelling of the original source material (i.e. light novel, manga, anime) but are instead an advanced adaptation of it. The characters, personality traits and lore surrounding them remain the same, but the events within each game are relatively unique to that experience but do draw heavy inspiration from the source material. Based on this latest gameplay trailer SWORD ART ONLINE: LAST RECOLLECTION, which looks to introduce new characters and upgraded God Accounts for Silica and Lisbeth, will take place after the events of SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycrois and lead into story line traits seen within SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization War of Underworld where the demons army invades the capital and everyone bands together to fight them off. Of course there is also a new element, which introduces a brand new character and her troubles within.

Taking a different path than the original Sword Art Online anime, SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection will follow Kirito as he prepares to face a challenge like no other: the Underworld War. The gate to the Dark Territory cracks open, ready to unleash its terror upon the Human Realm, when a mysterious Dark Knight named Dorothy flies in with a mission for Kirito and his friends. They will once again have to fight to protect this world.

Player’s favourite characters from the series are back in the culmination of the Sword Art Online game series, taking an unpredictable turn from the Underworld War arc told in the anime and novel. Keeping its acclaimed JRPG style and increasing the action speed, SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection will ensure a smooth coordination while playing with friends.

SWORD ART ONLINE: LAST RECOLLECTION will be released on 6th October 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. A Nintendo Switch version was previously announced and will most likely be released at a later date.
