Inti Creates to rename Grim Guardians: Demon Purge to Gal Guardians: Demon Purge

In some rather surprising, but unexpected, news developer Inti Creates have today announced that Grim Guardians: Demon Purge, a side-scrolling metroidvania styled arcade game based within the Gal*Gun franchise, will be renamed into Gal Guardians: Demon Purge.

The reason for this sudden name change, especially a week after release, is due to Inti Creates receiving a complaint from the owners of the trademarked game GRIMGUARD. Additional details weren’t provided in the statement, but its possible that the owners of the trademarked name thought that Grim Guardians sounds too familiar with their own title and could potentially cause confusion and infringe upon the trademarked name.

Regardless of the circumstances Grim Guardians: Demon Purge will be changed to Gal Guardians: Demon Purge and as a result of this change the game may be temporarily unavailable to purchase digitally until the change has been made. As an example the Windows PC version of the game on Steam has already been updated with the new name.
