Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil: Biohazard To Release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 this year

Capcom have surprisingly announced that Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 versions of previous Resident Evil games, namely the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, as well as the well receive Resident Evil: Biozhazard, will be released this year.

What’s surprising about this announcement is not only that this ‘next-gen’ versions are coming, but the fact that owners of the ‘current-gen’ games will be able to upgrade (at no additional cost) to these new versions. Owners of the Xbox One versions will instantly upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S versions once released, while owners of the PlayStation 4 versions will be able to download the PlayStation 5 version from the PlayStation Store.

Capcom has also explained that these upgraded editions are being developed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, with all three titles including ray tracing, high frame rate and 3D audio to enhance the immersion of the award-winning experiences. For PlayStation 5 users, all three titles also feature engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers; a feature which was used in the PlayStation 5 version of Resident Evil VILLAGE.

Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil: Biozhazard are all available physically and digitally for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
