Ghost in the Shell 4K Blu-Ray Announced for UK Release

FUNimation, formally Manga Entertainment UK, have announced that the classic animated film Ghost in the Shell will be released on 4K Blu-Ray in the UK later this year in both a Standard and Collector’s Edition Steelbook.

Ever since its UK debut Ghost in the Shell has received many releases, spawning from VHS to DVD to Blu-Ray, with each release promising new improvements, such as better picture and audio, or additional features compared to its former release. This time however fans will be treated to a 4K Blu-Ray release of the film, with both remastered picture and audio, with exclusive cover artwork from British artist Matt Ferguson.

This 4K Blu-Ray release of Ghost in the Shell, which is due to be released on the 12th July 2021, will feature remastered Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio formats along with 4K remastered picture quality. Both Standard 4K Blu-Ray and Steelbook 4K Blu-Ray Editions will also feature the following “on disc” materials:

  • Full length audio commentary of the film, including the voices of Mary Claypool, Eric Calderon, Richard Epcar and Charles Solomon
  • “Accessing Section 9: 25 Years into the Future” Featurette
  • “Landscapes & Dreamscapes – The Art and Architecture of GHOST IN THE SHELL” Featurette

The Steelbook 4K Blu-Ray Edition of Ghost in the Shell meanwhile will also come with presented in special packaging with bonus items as listed below:

  • Limited Edition Steelbook
  • Collector’s Rigid Box
  • Six art cards
  • Fold out poster

Ghost in the Shell 4K Blu-Ray will be available in Standard and Steelbook editions on the 12th July 2021 with pre-orders expected to appear shortly at online retailers.
