Osamu Kobayashi Memorial Available for Overseas Fans

On the 17th April 2021 it was reported that Osamu Kobayashi, director of the Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad TV anime series and key animation on the DRAGON’S HEAVEN OVA, had passed away at the age of 57 after a two-year fight against kidney cancer.

Naturally once fans became aware of his death fans shared appreciation and respect for his work on social media, and now those thoughts can be shared directly to those involved. For a limited time fans will be able to submit your favourite memory of Osamu Kobayashi through a google form, with messages being shared with his family members.

On the night of April 17, 2021, anime director Osamu Kobayashi-san lost his two year fight against kidney cancer and passed away aged 57.

Kobayashi-san was best known as the director of the Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad TV anime to fans overseas. But throughout his career, which started in 1988 doing the mechanical design and key animation on the DRAGON’S HEAVEN OVA, he touched the lives of many, whether that was through his works, his style, his love of rock music, and his lovable personality and attitude.

We thought to open up this memorial form to help fans from across the World send their messages of love to the family of Kobayashi-san–who we have a direct line to.
