Visual Novel “ISLAND” Launches Digitally on Nintendo Switch in April within Europe

During the past few years developer-come-publisher PROTOTYPE have been releasing a wide-variety of visual novel experiences onto the Nintendo Switch, and on the 8th April 2021 that list grows as Front Wing’s ISLAND will be released digitally via the Nintendo eShop in Europe and North America as well as physically in Japan (and with English text).

ISLAND was originally released for Windows PC in Japan, before being ported to the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4, and in 2018 the game was localised into English and released on Steam. Now, on the 8th April 2021, this intricate visual novel experience, will make its way to the Nintendo Switch. The visual novel game also sparked an anime adaptation which was broadcast on Crunchyroll and FUNimation.

Urashima is a tropical island paradise that was lush with life, but along with a complicated past, it suffered from an endemic disease that threatened to quietly wipe it from history.

A young man claiming to be a time traveler washes ashore. All he remembers is that he must complete some “mission”. He ends up meeting three girls belonging to the Three Families who prove to be the key to saving the island and starts his journey to change the future. How will he end up altering the fate of the girls, the island, and the world?

Gameplay in this visual novel involves reading through the story while making choices at certain key points. Different decisions may lead to different outcomes, story branches and endings.

Features such as the Flowchart System, which allows you to review your progress or jump to previous scenes, make for a pleasant gaming experience.

In the UK ISLAND be priced at £53.99 from the Nintendo eShop, but those opting for a physical edition can purchase the Japanese release as it will include English text localisation, much like previous releases such as Griasia Trilogy and CLANNAD on the Nintendo Switch. Whether you chose digital or import ISLAND will be available from the 8th April 2021 and is now available to pre-order from the Nintendo eShop. In the meantime ISLAND is also available on Steam for Windows PC.
