Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Demo Now Available on PlayStation Store

Those looking forward to NIS America’s localisation of Nihon Falcom’s Action-RPG Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be excited to learn that a playable demo has been made available on the PlayStation Store within Europe and North America.

Available from the PlayStation Store at 4.8GB, and compatible with both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, the Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Demo allows players to experience up to 10 minutes of gameplay in two distinctive dungeon experiences. In this case players can experience Cloaca Maxima with Crimson King, Doll and Raging Bull or Dry Moat Ruins with Crimson King, Hawk and Raging Bull with each location offering a unique set of enemies to encounter, a boss fight and various treasure chests.

Naturally this demo only allows players experience a small portion of the game but it does give you that ‘instant feedback’ on whether or not you would enjoy the full game. Sadly the demo doesn’t feature any cutscenes or narrative, but the demo is presented in English with menu interfaces (and options) available for selection. Due to the time limit imposed, and the consistent wave of enemies on screen, I suspect that this demo was prepared/planned for event use, but with COVID-19 causing disruption amongst the world has been revamped for a PlayStation Store release.

You can view our playthrough of each location in the gameplay video below, but for the time being Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be available physically and digitally for the PlayStation 4 on the 5th February 2021.
