Anime Limited Announcement Round-Up from Cloud Matsuri November 2020

With COVID-19 continuing to cause disruption across the globe Anime Limited have once again taken to hosting a second digital Cloud Matsuri event and, as with all good events, Anime Limited hosted a ‘traditional’ industry panel which saw updates on previously announced titles as well as confirmation of exciting new additions to their catalogue.

As part of the panel Anime Limited provided clarity on the 12 Days of Christmas Deals previously announced earlier in the year, of which you can readh about here and here, as well as unveiled new title announcements including Blu-Ray re-releases of Mawaru Penguindrum, Black Lagoon and a 4K Blu-Ray Edition of Your Name.

Anime Limited Panel #1 Summary:

  • Ascendance of a Bookworm to be released on Blu-Ray  within the UK during 2021
    • Details to be confirmed, but Sentai Filmworks in America did release Season 1 & 2 as a complete collection
  • Black Lagoon to be released as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray within the UK during 2021 (Previously DVD & Blu-Ray via MangaUK)
    • Details to be confirmed, but the previous release have long-since been out of print
  • Mawaru Penguindrum Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray to be released within the UK in 2021
    • Contains Complete Series with a new encode (previous releases were 1080i)
    • Available from UK retailers (Amazon, Anime-On-Line, AL Store) in 2020
  • IN/SPECTRE announced for Blu-Ray release in 2021
    • Additional details to be confirmed, but the series is available to stream on Crunchyroll
  • Your Name 4K Blu-Ray to be released in 2021
    • Additional details to be confirmed

Screen Anime Panel Summary:

  • Dear King to receive a cinematic screening in 2021 across the UK
    • Additional details to be confirmed
  • Inu-Oh! to receive cinematic screening in 2021 across the UK
    • TBC 2021 with additional details to be announced
  • Josee, the Tiger and the Fish to receive cinematic screening in 2021 across the UK
    • Q2 2021 for UK cinematic release, but home video release is planned towards the end of 2021
  • Love Me, Love Me Not to receive a cinema screening in 2021 across the UK
    • Q2 2021 for cinematic release with home video planned at a later date
  • Lupin the Third: The First to receive cinema screening in 2021 across the UK
    • TBC for cinema, but home video release planned
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion Death(True) & (True)2 and The End of Evangelion coming to cinema in 2021
    • Q2 2021 for cinema with home video release planned.
  • Violet Evergarden: The Movie to receive a cinematic release in 2021 across the UK
    • TBC for cinema, but home video release planned. This film is different to the Netflix film and continues/concludes the story

Anime Limited Panel #2 Summary:

  • Attack on Titan – Season 2 Soundtrack Vinyl Collection release early in 2021
    • Deluxe and Standard Editions planned with Deluxe contain 5 Vinyl’s and Standard with 3 Vinyl’s
  • Beastars – Season 1 Soundtrack Vinyl planned for mid 2021 release

Other Details:

  • Cardcaptor Sakura TV Series potentially looking at a 2021 Blu-Ray release, with the movies to follow after. Portion of the series is available to stream on All4.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion still planned for 2021 Ultimate Edition Blu-ray release with additional details to be confirmed. The series is available to stream in High Definition on Netflix.
  • Persona 5: The Animation is planned for 2021 release, with further details to be announced.

Naturally additional details for each of these series will be revealed through the official Anime Limited channels but it is exciting to see Your Name receive the 4K Blu-Ray treatment, as the film has been released on 4K Blu-Ray in Japan and in some european countries but has not yet received an English 4K release.
