Clockwork Aquario To Launch in 2021 with Limited Physical Editions on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4

Strictly Limited Games and publisher ININ Games have today revealed that Clockwork Aquario will be released in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 with limited physical editions being made available through the Strictly Limited Games website. In addition the games logo and key visual where revealed.

The surprising nature of Clockwork Aquario is that the game was originally in developed back in 1992 and is considered the last arcade game ever developed by the legendary company Westone. Originally the game was due to be released into the Arcades, with its large character sprites, beautiful animations, vibrant colours – however due to the increase in 3D technology and the demand for 3D developed titles Clockwork Aquario never saw the light of day.  The news of Strictly Limited Games, and ININ Games, resurrecting the title brings positive comments from Westone Co-Founder Ryuichi Nishizawa:

“In the 90s, when game centers were dominated by fighting games, there was one title which had never been released, even though it was completed after more than two years of development and repeated changes. This title is Clockwork Aquario. Who would have thought that it would be restored and playable again? I would like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude to those who have worked so hard to restore it. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this work is a great piece of 2D art, where the pixel artists of that time put their hearts and souls into. I’d be happy if people would appreciate and enjoy it.”

Clockwork Aquario is said to be a side-scrolling action game can either be played alone or with a friend in co-op whereby players can choose from three different characters, each of them with her/his individual moveset. These include Huck Londo, the daring ghost hunter, Elle Moon, the brave adventuress and Gush, the warmhearted giant robot.

Clockwork Aquario is planned for a 2021 release on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 with further details, including physical availability, to be announced at later date.
