Classic Horror “Kholat” goes Physical on Nintendo Switch with Limited Availability

This isn’t your traditional ‘Japanese gaming news’ post, but as we are fans of classic horror titles, and limited physical products, then it couldn’t hurt to share the news this one time. Regardless, Red Art Games have announced plans to release a physical version of Polish indie developer IMGN.PRO’s survival horror title Kholat on Nintendo Switch later next year with only 3800 copies being produced.

This ‘limited print run’ of Kholat is available to pre-order exclusively from the Red Art Games website for 29.99 EURO, which equates to around £26.99, and includes English, Deutsche, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese localise languages; thus making it an ideal Collector’s item for Nintendo Switch fans. In terms of the game itself then, as explained by Red Art Games “Kholat is an exploration adventure game with elements of horror, inspired by a true event known as the Dyatlov Pass incident.”.

Kholat is an exploration adventure game with elements of horror inspired by the event known as Dyatlov Pass Incident. The player will plunge directly into the boundless scenery of the inhospitable Ural Mountains with the task of finding out what really happened. Controlling the main character you trace the steps of a group of nine Russian college students who went missing in February 1959 on Kholat Syakhl.

Kholat is told through a first-person horror adventure framework and presents an atmospheric storyline of intrigue and mystery. With standard survival equipment including map, compass and flashlight, the player must balance their health and well being with the challenges that unfold. A sense of unease will wash over the player as periods of time pass, the cold winds and wintery conditions that prevail as you move from location to location. Limited information in the form of notes and cryptic voiceover as the player journeys through the world add to the experience of feeling lost as ghostly figures roam looking for their prey!

Kholat has previously been released digitally onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, with the Nintendo Switch version released during May 2020 on the Nintendo eShop. This physical version, for the Nintendo Switch, will be released during Q1 2020 and sold exclusively through the Red Art Games store with 3800 copies being made available.
