Gundam Seed Announced for UK Blu-Ray Release Later This Year

All The Anime, otherwise known as Anime Limited, have today announced that they will be releasing Mobile Suit Gundam Seed onto Blu-Ray later this year on the 7th December 2020, with pre-orders starting at the end of this month, and that it will first be released as an Ultimate Edition release containing the entire series and the recap movies on Blu-Ray.

Synopsis: The Coordinators, a group of genetically enhanced humans, have moved into colonies orbiting the Earth. But that hasn’t quieted the tensions between them and regular humans; the conflict soon escalates into a full-scale war. On the neutral colony of Heliopolis, Kira Yamato, and his friends are going to school and just being kids. But when the ZAFT commando forces attack, Kira’s life changes forever.

Left with no choice, he and Federation officer Murrue Ramius are thrown into battle in a prototype mobile weapon, which Kira christens “GUNDAM.” Now, Kira must defend himself and his friends from his own people. For, unknown to anyone else, Kira is a Coordinator. And the enemy he faces on the battlefield is his childhood best friend, Athrun!

This ultimate edition release, of which will have an RRP of £199.99, will contain all 48 episodes of the ‘HD Remaster’ version of the series, of which saw scenes reanimated or modified to fit the narrative of the story, in 1080p 16:9 High Definition with a new English Dub as well as all 50 episodes of the ‘original’ series, which is the version of the series previously released in the UK by Beez Entertainment, in its 480i 4:3 SD format with its original English Dub.

Both variations of the series will contain the respective Japanese audio and English subtitle tracks.  In addition this Ultimate Edition will contain the three feature-length-films that retell the events of the original series, of which will also be presented on Blu-Ray in 480i 4:3 SD format in both the original English and Japanese voice over and English subtitle options. This Ultimate Edition of Gundam Seed will also contain over 2 hours of bonus features that will be spread across the thirteen Blu-Ray discs.

  • Complete 48 episode Gundam Seed HD Remaster series with viewing options in English (with the new dub for the series) and original Japanese with English subtitles. (1080p, HD Native)
  • Complete 50 episode original version of Gundam Seed on standard definition Blu-ray with viewing options in English (original dub) and original Japanese with English subtitles. (4:3, 480i) [Exclusive to Ultimate Edition]
  • Three Gundam Seed Special Edition compilation films on standard definition Blu-ray – retelling the series in a condensed form – with viewing options in both English (original dub) and original Japanese with English subtitles. (4:3, 480i) [Exclusive to Ultimate Edition and never previously released in the UK!]

The ‘original’ version of Gundam Seed on Standard Definition Blu-Ray, and the Special Edition compilation films which are also presented in Standard Definition on Blu-Ray, will be exclusive to this Ultimate Edition set. A standard edition, or perhaps even a standard Collector’s Edition of Gundam Seed HD Remaster, is also planned for a release next year and further details will be announced at a later.
