Anime Limited Announcement Round-Up from Cloud Matsuri May 2020

Cloud Matsuri has officially begun and to kick-start the event Anime Limited began with a ‘traditional’ industry panel, followed by a panel on Screen Anime, which – as expected – announced a selection of new titles.

As part of the panel Anime Limited provided clarity on previously announced titles B: The Beginning and Bartender as well as confirmation of UK Blu-Ray releases of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, which is of course the sequel to the events of the Code Geass TV series, and Demon Slayer. The biggest surprise however was the announcement of Neon Genesis Evangelion being released on Blu-Ray next year.

Anime Limited Panel Summary:

  • B: The Beginning Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray to be released within the UK and US
    • Contains Complete Series (English & Japanese audio), Soundtrack CD, Art Book and 3 A4 sized art cards
    • Available from UK retailers (Amazon, Anime-On-Line, AL Store) and US retailers (Rightstuf) in 2020
  • Bartender Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray to be released within the UK
    • Contains Complete Series (Japanese with English Subtitles), 9 Recipe cards and 4 Coasters
    • Available from UK retailers (Amazon, Anime-On-Line, AL Store) in 2020
  • Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection announced for Blu-Ray release in 2020
    • Additional details to be confirmed
  • Demon Slayer – Season 1 Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray to be released in 2020
    • Available in English & Japanese; but additional details and contents to be confirmed
  • K:7 Stories Collection to be released as Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray in the UK
    • Additional details to be confirmed
  • Planetes to be released as Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray in the UK
    • Additional details to be confirmed
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion Ultimate Edition Blu-Ray announced for 2021 release in UK
    • Contains the original TV Series + Movies (Death & Rebirth, The End of Evangelion)

Naturally additional details for each of these series will be revealed through the official Anime Limited channels but it is exciting to see both Demon Slayer and Neon Genesis Evangelion be released in the UK.

Following on from the Anime Limited Industry Panel the team went straight in to discussing the recently launched Screen Anime service; and highlights of this discussion can be found below.

Screen Anime Panel Summary:

  • A ‘curated’ experience that will recreate the experience of ‘film festivals’ at home
  • 4 Films and 1 TV Series that WILL change on the platform each month
  • Each title added to the platform will receive a ‘bonus’ content (such as Interview, Trailer)
  • Each title will be available in the same audio and subtitle language as the home video release in the UK
  • Content not licensed by Anime Limited / All The Anime will be considered for the platform and added (if possible)
  • Annual subscription is £39.98 with monthly subscription of £3.98. Free trial for 3 days also available
  • Annual subscription will grant 10% discount on Anime Limited store (both online and at events)
  • Screen Anime is available through the website, but TV, iOS and Android devices currently planned & in development
  • on 25th June 2020 “Weathering With You”, “Your Name”, “Fireworks” & “Anthem of the Heart” will replace the current selection of movies
