Megalobox Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray Announced for July Release

Back at MCM London Comic Con in 2018, Anime Limited announced that they had secure the UK home distribution rights to TMS/3xCube’s animated series Megalobox and now, nearly two years on, Anime Limited have announced that it will be released on the 27th July 2020 as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray.

As with Anime Limited’s recent string of ‘Collectors Edition’ releases Megalobox will be presented in a rigid art box with a standard amaray blu-ray case that holds the two Blu-Ray discs, for the entirety of the series, and a bonus DVD that contains the Japanese Audio Dramas in English subtitled subtitled format. In addition a 120-page art book and a poster will slot alongside the Blu-Ray case inside the rigid art box; all of which will be decorated with some rather impressive and unique artwork from the series.

The series itself will be presented on Blu-Ray in English and Japanese (with English subtitles) and will feature some on-disc bonus content, such as textless songs and interviews with the production team. The bonus DVD disc meanwhile contains the audio dramas, of which would have been released on CDs, that have been subtitled in English for our viewing pleasure. The art book meanwhile, of which is exclusive to this Collector’s Edition, will feature a variety of information such as:

  • character profiles
  • background/location art,
  • Key Animation Gallery,
  • Supplement sections featuring concept art, background information on the source materials, animation documents, graphic designs, drafts of promotional materials, promotional material gallery
  • an interview with Yo Moriyama (Director / Concept Design)
  • an interview with Katsuhiko Manabe & Kensaku Kojima (Scriptwriters)
  • an interview with Hiroshi Simizu (Character Design / Chief Animation Director)
  • an interview with Jiro Kouno (Art Director)
  • an interview with Mabanua (Music)
  • an interview with Yo Moriyama (Director / Concept Design) & Minako Fujiyoshi (Producer)
  • an article on the difficulty of retelling Tomorrow’s Joe
  • song lyric translations
  • and an episode breakdown.

The Megalobox Collector’s Edition is expected to be released on the 27th July 2020 and is now available to pre-order from the All The Anime Store and is expected to appear at other retailers in the coming weeks. Further details surrounding this release can be found on the official website.
