Anime Limited’s festival themed streaming service Screen Anime officially launched in the UK this week and we’ve slowly begun to understand what it may offer for anime fans hoping to bring the the thrills of the big-screen to the little screen.
Available as a monthly subscription of £3.98, or an annual subscription of £39.98 with promised discounts at the Anime Limited Store, Screen Anime began its streaming service on the 25th May 2020 at 6pm with four feature-length-films and a single TV series. Those interested in trying the service can also “try for 3 days” before being asked to pay the monthly, or annual, fee for the service.
Launch titles:
- Patema Inverted [Bonus = Alternate angles]
- Penguin Highway [Bonus = Interview with Tomihiko Morimi]
- PROMARE [Bonus = Lio’s Side Story]
- Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnemaise [BONUS = TO BE CONFIRMED]
- Wolf’s Rain
Those who sign up to the service, whether as paying customer or trial member, are granted immediate access to the content listed above which, at launch, can only be accessed through a web browser on the Screen Anime website. Anime Limited have promised that additional apps are being made for compatible iOS, Android and Smart TV Devices but details on availability have not yet been confirmed.
So what happens next? Based on information available Screen Anime will showcase different films (and a TV series) each month and the next selection of titles will be announced on the 25th June 2020. It is expected, but not currently known, that content added in June will replace the currently available content and that this pattern will follow each month. Further information about Screen Anime can be found on the official website.
