Ride Your Wave, Millennium Actress and Violet Evergarden To Receive Limited Cinematic Screenings in the UK

Anime Limited have announced that Satoshi Kon’s classic film Millennium Actress will receive a new 4K remastered screening in March as part of the Glasgow Film fest while Masaaki Yuasa’s feature-length-film Ride Your Wave will be screened in selective cinemas around the UK later this month as part of the Japanese Foundation Film Programme. In addition Kyoto Animation’s feature-length-film Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll will also be available at Glasgow Film Fest with a special Q&A with Yui Ishikawa, the voice of Violet int he film.

Millennium Actress [2nd & 3rd March 2020 – Glasgow Film Fest]:
Satoshi Kon’s classic mind-bending journey through the life and career of a reclusive former actress gets a new 4K remastered presentation. A movie studio is being torn down, and TV interviewer Genya Tachibana has tracked down its most famous star, Chiyoko Fujiwara, who has been a recluse since she left acting some thirty years ago. Tachibana delivers a key to her, and it causes her to reflect on her career; as she’s telling the story, Tachibana and his long-suffering cameraman are drawn into her story as an actress, the decades spent acting across various genres and eras.

Ride Your Wave [13th & 16th February 2020 – Bristol, Leicester, London, Sheffield]:
Romance transcends earthly bonds in this fantastic and offbeat new anime from the director of Lu Over the Wall. After the firefighter boyfriend of Hinako – a surf loving college student – loses his life at sea, she discovers she can summon him back in any watery surface by singing a song they both loved nearby.

But can the two really remain in love like this forever? Or is something else motivating her boyfriend’s sudden reappearance?

Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll [1st March 2020 – Glasgow Film Fest]:
An all-new story following on from the stunning and emotional animated masterpiece from Kyoto Animation, Violet Evergarden. Isabella, the heir to a noble house, attends a school for well-groomed young women under a ‘contract’ with her father. To her, this beautiful place where white camellias bloom is nothing more than a prison. Having resigned all hope and expectations for her future, Isabella meets her new manners teacher, Violet Evergarden.
