Koei Tecmo Reveals New Fairy Tail Details at Tokyo Game Show 2019

Koei Tecmo have recently revealed some new details for GUST’S video game adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s manga Fairy Tail; details of which include story content and an extended highlight of the main characters of the Fairy Tail series.

Firstly the story of this Fairy Tail game will retell the events of “The Grand Magic Games” story arc thus enabling gamers to re-live, or experience for the first time, the exciting episodes of this fan-favourite storyline. In addition the games story will feature events from Tenrou Island, which led up to the seven year time-skip that opens into the Grand Magic Games arc, as a prologue leading in to the core gameplay.

Although the story will focus heavily on elements, and the build up, to the Grand Magic Games it will also see players able to rebuild the guild from the ground-up while completing quests and objectives in order to return the guild to its former glory and increase relaitonships with other characters in the guild. In hindsight this mixes the ‘development’ and ‘quest accepting’ aspect from GUST’s Atelier franchises but incorporated into the world of Fairy Tail.

From a gameplay perspective Fairy Tail will be a turn-based JRPG, yet again similar to GUST’s Atelier franchise, with characters having different skills and abilities. Natsu for instance will be able to take advantage of mode changes – like utilising the eye-popping Lightning Fire Dragon Mode! In addition, some guild members will be available to support in battle, including the Fairy Tail Guild Master, Makarov Dreyar, who can be called in to provide powerful aid on the battlefield.

Fairy Tail is in development for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and STEAM for a 2020 release.
