Granblue Fantasy: Versus to Feature an ‘RPG Mode’ alongside Fighting Modes

Cygames and Arc System Works have announced that their upcoming fighting game, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, which is being published in Europe by Marvelous Games and in North America by XSEED Games, will feature an ‘RPG Mode’ alongside its traditional arcade fighter mechanics that have previously been shown as part of trailers and the closed beta test.

As illustrated by a recently released trailer the RPG Mode in Granblue Fantasy: Versus will feature core RPG elements such as a unique story exclusive to Granblue Fantasy: Versus, with characters from the Granblue Fantasy franchise making their on screen appearance, as well as RPG mechanics which see players able to equip weapons and attack monsters through side-scrolling-styled combat.

As explained by Marvelous Games and XSEED Games the “RPG Mode” allows players to experience the game as an action RPG, with an original Granblue Fantasy: Versus storyline replete with beautiful cutscenes and boss battles against giant Primal Beasts. Additionally, a fully developed training system which will be very familiar to Granblue Fantasy fans will be implemented.

In addition to the RPG Mode Marvelous Games also re-confirmed that Granblue Fantasy: Versus will be playable on the PlayStation Booth at Gamescom in Hall 7, with the demo on show allow players to battle using characters from the closed beta test as well as the recently announced character Percival.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is in development via Cygames and Arc System Works for the PlayStation 4, with Marvelous Games being the European publisher and Arc System Works being the North American publisher. A western release date has not yet been announced.
