Dragon Ball Super to be broadcast on UK TV via POP! later this Year

In some rather exciting news POP!, the free-to-view UK TV channel owned by the Sony TV network, have today announced that they will begin broadcasting English Dubbed episodes of Dragon Ball Super on it’s POP! TV channel later this year.

As announced in the TV advert, of which can be seen below, Dragon Ball Super will soon begin its UK TV broadcast on POP! later this year; with episodes being shown in English dubbed format, with the FUNimation English Dub being used, starting with the very first episode. In addition to the TV advert, which is currently being broadcast on POP! and POP! Max, the official POP! website has been updated with a synopsis and key character breakdown on Dragon Ball Super.

It’s expected that POP! will show the episodes in an ‘edited for TV’ manner but it is worth noting that the original episodes, of which are available on Blu-Ray and DVD by Manga Entertainment in the UK, have been rated PG (with the exception of Part 6 which was rated 12) and do not feature as much violence as its Dragon Ball Z counterpart – so we do not expect much edits to take place.

In comparison when Dragon Ball Z Kai was shown on KIX! (which was later rebranded into POP! Max) the series was heavily edited for its UK TV broadcast with fights toned down and slowed down slightly as well as traces of blood and swearing being removed. Naturally we will know more once the series begins broadcast on POP!.

It’s not unfamiliar for POP!, and in turn its sister TV channel, to show anime (or TV edited anime) as the network have also shown Dinosaur King, Beyblade Burst, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX as well as more recently with classic episodes of Pokemon.

POP! have not yet announced a broadcasting date for Dragon Ball Super but it will be available to watch on POP! on Freeview 206, Sky 616, Freesat 606 and Virgin Media 736.
