Although Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ continue to receive positive success within each respective community, in a addition to an onslaught of additional content updates and DLC characters, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced at E3 2019 as part of the Xbox Media Presentation that the latest Dragon Ball video game experience will be known as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.
Originally announced under the working title as “Dragon Ball Game Project Z: Action RPG” and featuring Goku as the games core focus of attention Bandai Namco Entertainment have now officially confirmed that this game will be known as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and that it will span Goku’s journey in an Action-RPG world.
Details on Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are still scarce; but based on screenshots, gameplay and information revealed during the course of the E3 weekend it seems that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will put players into the shoes of Goku as he ventres around large maps taking quests and challenges in order to boost his own skills. Naturally the core story of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will follow that of the original manga and anime; with both Saiyan and Frieza sagas being shown to this date.
A gameplay session with IGN also showed that additional characters from the entire Dragon Ball universe, including Android 8 from Dragon Ball, will be included in the game. It’s also worth noting that the game will be playable with English voice-over options, with notable voice actors reprising their roles within this latest game.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is planned for a 2020 release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC with further details to be announced at a later date.
