Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team iOS & Android Game Adds Real World Players

Football fans and anime fans alike will be interested to learn that the Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team iOS & Android game, which is a football sim based on the Japanese Captain Tsubasa anime and manga franchise, has received new content in the form of real world players.

In this case real world football players Roberto Carlos, Morientes, and Guti have been added to Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team as playable character in this football management sim. Similiar to Football Manager and the even popular Fifa Ultimate Team players obtain ‘player cards’ and built their own team of which can be used to battle against other players online. Captain Tsubasa also allows fans to take part in the games original story whereby players can via Tsubasa’s middle school days and relive nostalgic memories from the beginning of his football experiences.

About Captain Tsubasa:

Created by Yoichi Takahashi, Captain Tsubasa is a Japanese manga that centers on the sport of football. Since premiering in Shueisha’s landmark manga anthology Weekly Shonen Jump in 1981, the series has grown into a legend that has inspired and delighted countless football fans around the world for decades.

Even after the end of the initial serialization, the story has continued to evolve with new works highlighting the growth and development of main character Tsubasa Ozora. The series’ popularity continues to thrive, with Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun currently appearing in Shueisha’s manga anthology, Grand Jump.

The series has sold over 70 million volumes in Japan alone. Captain Tsubasa’s popularity extends beyond borders, having been translated and published around the world in 20 languages, finding fans and winning the hearts of football lovers around the globe.

The addition of Roberto Carlos, Morientes, and Guti to Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team is ‘big news’ as this is the first time (from my experiences at least) that real world people have been incorporated into an anime related franchise; that is excluding the Steve Aoki pack for Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Key Features:

  • Intense Matches: The game controls are optimized for smartphones, creating a smooth, intuitive, and stress-free play experience! Compete with other teams to become master of the pitch and conquer the world of football!
  • Re-experience the original story in Story Mode!: Experience the thrill of the original series once more in Story Mode! Take yourself back to Tsubasa’s middle school days and relive some nostalgic memories!
