During the course of the weekend a brand new ‘teaser trailer’ for Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Movie was released by Toei Animation, Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan and FUNimation; of which revealed a ‘key’ character for the film which receives it’s cinematic debut this month in Japan.
This trailer was promoted on YouTube’s front page and depending on where the trailer was viewed (UK, North America and Japan) would dictate on which variation of the trailer was shown; with each featuring a different date for the film being shown in cinemas.
When this advert was viewed from the UK the date “23rd January 2019” was displayed – as well as the trailer being shown in English – while viewing the advert in Japan had a 14th December 2018 date with Japanese audio presented. Viewing the advert from North America would display January 16th, 2019 in a different font and presentation style.
That’s not all as clicking on the advert (when viewed from the UK) and expanding the full video description on Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan’s YouTube Channel (known as 876C) would reveal the UK website for Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Movie used for pre-booking tickets as well as confirmation of the cinematic release date.
This ‘teaser trailer’ date also lines-up with Anime UK News discovery of selected cinemas listing Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Movie for a 23rd January 2019 and 24th January 2019 screening date with a 12A Rating. Still not entirely convinced? Well Manga Entertainment UK cinematic screenings (excluding Yu-Gi-Oh! The Darkside of Dimensions) have always been on a Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday; and these dates line-up with those days.
Naturally Manga Entertainment UK have yet to officially announce the screening dates and locations for this film but we can expect to hear this news shortly. For the time being Dragon Ball Super: Broly The Movie will receive a UK release during January 2019 – with reports suggesting the 23rd January 2019.
