Animax UK Announces Closure of Streaming Platform

Five years ago the Columbia Pictures owned streaming service Animax UK began offering anime fans a place to watch simulcast streams as well as back-catalogue titles, with titles from KAZE, Manga Entertainment UK and Anime Limited being offered on the service; and Animax UK have now announced that as of 15th October 2018 the service will be discontinued and streams removed.

With the arrival of HiDive and FUNimation NOW, as well as the consistent growth of Crunchyroll, Animax UK’s popularity has deminished over the past few years and even anime blocks on the Sony Movie Network couldn’t help reignite the ideals that Animax UK stood for.

It has been said that those currently subscribed to Animax UK when the service ends will receive a £5 discount on FUNimation NOW; which is the subscription based streaming service from FUNimation that offers simulcast streams and back-catalogue titles from a wide variety of anime. Free users will not receive any additional bonus but can find alternative options to streaming anime (legally) via Crunchyroll, HiDive and FUNimation NOW.
