Koei Tecmo Europe, alongside Koei Tecmo America and Koei Tecmo Japan, have announced that the iconic arcade fighter franchise Dead or Alive will return in Dead or Alive 6 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC next year.
Announced for an ‘early 2019’ release this latest installment will retain all of the memorable elements from previous games, such as the simple to play but difficult to master fighting mechanics, but will drop the bouncing breasts and revealing clothing that the series has been known for. It’s an interesting decision – taking away one of the games iconic features – but it is a clear sign that the development team want to focus on the ‘core aspect’ of the game; it’s arcade fighting style.
In this case Dead or Alive 6 will return true to form with a whole host of playable characters and stages; with fan-favourite characters Kasumi, Hayate, Ryu, Zack, Helena and Jann Lee been confirmed as playable characters. Additionally familiar locations such as Throwndown and Colosseum will also return; all of which (including the characters) have been re-imagined with the new visual overhaul and presentation.
We can expect Koei Tecmo to reveal further information about Dead or Alive 6 in the coming months; but for the time being the game is scheduled to be released onto the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC during 2019.
