PQube Games To Publish Muv-Luv & Muv-Luv Alternate onto PS Vita within Europe & America

PQube Games have, in a rather surprising announcement, today announced that they will partner up with developers IXTL to release the Muv-Luv games onto the PlayStation Vita within Europe and America. Why is this a surprising announcement? Well originally these games were funded through Kickstarter with many backers (including myself) still waiting for the product to arrive.

Three years ago the Muv-Luv Team, otherwise known as IXTL, created a kickstarter campaign to help produce an English Localised version of the visual novel Muv-Luv, and its futuristic mecha-spin-off Muv-Luv Alternate, onto the PC worldwide; with stretch goals adding in a PS Vita release of the games. The campaign was a huge success and within 18 months fans received the English localised versions of Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative while supporters of the promised PS Vita version have had to wait, with updates on the production proving uninformative.

A year later IXTL have now announced this partnership with UK based publisher-come-distributor PQube Games. PQube Games will manage the physical rewards for backers from the kickstarter but PQube Games, through their online store Rice Digital, will also sell an ‘exclusive’ trilogy variation of the game.  It’s also expected that standard variations of the games will also be published through PQube Games in digital form; but exact release details have yet to be confirmed.

Surprising news indeed; but hopefully fans of the project will be able to get there hands on the PS Vita version soon. Personally (as a supporter of the project) I hope that PQube Games give priority to those who helped fund the project, rather than ship everything out (non-backers included) at once.
