Manga UK To Release Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Paprika & Steamboy on Blu-ray This Year

Manga Entertainment UK have today announcd that they will be releasing a selection of animated films from the early noughties including Shinichirō Watanabe’s feature-length Cowboy Bebop film, Satoshi Kon’s feature-length-film Paprika and Katsuhiro Otomo’s steampunk thriller Steamboy.

All three films have previously been released on DVD, with Paprika also reciving a Blu-ray release during the formats ealy days, by Sony Pictures Entertainment but now Manga Entertainment UK will be releasing the films as ‘Limited Edition’ Blu-ray and DVD Combo Packs with specific details to be confirmed at a later date.

We do know however that Cowboy Bebop: The Movie will use the same disc masters as those used by Umbrella Entertainment in Australia, which means we should reeive the better picture quality, 5.1 surround sound and bonus features; and that each film will feature both English & Japanese audio options. Finally each film will be packaged with an O-Card around the amaray case as well as feature a reversable inlay filled with artwork.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie:
Release Date: 9th October 2017
Format: Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack

Synopsis: Mars. Days before Halloween 2071. Villains blow up a tanker truck on Highway One, releasing a deadly virus that kills hundreds. Fearing a bigger, even more devastating biochemical attack, an astronomical reward is offered for the arrest and capture of the person behind the destruction. On the spaceship “Bebop,” Spike Spiegel and his crew of bounty hunters (Jet Black, Faye Valentine, Ed and Ein) are bored and short of cash. But with the news of the reward everything changes.

Paprika:
Release Date: 16th October 2017

Steamboy:
Release Date: 23rd October 2017
Format: Blu-ray & DVD Combo Pack

Synopsis: From the leader in anime Katsuhiro Otomo (Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis, Memories), comes his first feature-length directorial project since his breakthrough film (Akira).

Ten years in the making, with a total budget of $22 million, Steamboy is the most expensive Japanese anime production ever. A retro science-fiction epic set in Victorian England, Steamboy features an inventor prodigy named Ray Steam, who receives a mysterious metal ball containing a new form of energy capable of powering an entire nation, the Steam Ball. Young Ray Steam must use the Steam Ball to fight evil, redeem his family, and save London from destruction.

With more than 180,000 drawings and 400 CG cuts, Steamboy is one of the most elaborate animated features ever created. Steamboy will be brought to life with an outstanding ensemble voiceover cast including Anna Paquin (X-Men), Patrick Stewart (X-Men), and Alfred Molina (Spider-man 2).

Listings for each of these films will become available at retailers shortly but in the meantime it is exciting to see three films being re-released on Blu-ray; especially Cowboy Bebop since it is considered a cult-classic amongst botth fans and newcomers alike.
