Perfect Blue Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Limited UK Cinema Run

Earlier in the year Anime Limited announced that they would be bringing a large catalogue of anime films into UK Cinemas – with films being released on a near monthly basis – and during the past week Anime Limited have confirmed that Perfect Blue will be one of the films shown later this year.

This (of course) was information we were already aware of, as MCM London Comic Con attendees would have noticed this at the Anime Limited booth and Anime Limited panels; but the distributor opted to provide that much needed refresh. Anyway; as the film is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year Anime Limited will be giving Perfect Blue a ‘limited’ screening within the UK – in this case the 31st October 2017.

Synopsis: Mima Kirigoe (Junko Iwao) has a bright future ahead of her when she leaves the chart-topping pop trio “CHAM!” to pursue an acting career.  When a role in a violent crime drama courts controversy and a bizarre blog starts detailing every aspect of her life however, Mima begins to fall apart and her associates start turning up dead.

Stalked by madness amidst a whirlpool of fear and a dangerous dance of reality and delusion, Mima is left helpless and riddled with self-doubt in a world where innocence is lost and dreams become nightmares.

It’s currently unclear how many screens will be showing the film; but we expect further information – as well as ticket booking – to become available very soon. For the time being at least the Perfect Blue will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with a cinema run in UK cinemas – alternatively those wishing to save some money and opt for the smaller screen can watch the film on DVD and Blu-ray via Anime Limited.
