Fourteen months after the release of Full Metal Panic – Ultimate Edition, a set which saw Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid and Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU compiled into a single package with a hardback artbook (which we unboxed), Anime Limited have now announced that they will be releasing a ‘Collectors Edition’ Blu-ray set as a Limited Print Run.
Due for release on the 6th March 2017, Limited to 300 units, and available to pre-order exclusively from the All The Anime Shop, this Collector’s Edition set will compile the same three amaray sets from the previous Ultimate Edition set and see them packaged inside a chipboard artbox featuring slightly different artwork to the Ultimate Edition.
The set will also be retailed at £49.99, which is £100 less than the previous Ultiumate Edition RRP Price (which was often sold for around £90), although until the 21st February 2017 it can be ordered for £39.99 directly from the All The Anime Shop. An example of the artbox artwork can be seen in the beauty shot below:
The biggest difference between this Collectors Edition set and the previous Ultimate Edition set is that it will not include the hardback artbook, which featured artwork, background designs and promotional character shots from the series, nor will it include the huge box that contained the book and amaray cases of the series. The packaging, presentation and disc contents of the individual amaray cases are expected to be exactly the same as the previous Ultimate Edition set; however the back of each box may be changed to display product information for each season (as this was absent from the sets in the Ultimate Edition release).
In addition to this ‘Collectors Edition’ collection Anime Limited confirmed that they will be releasing Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid and Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU (which was previously exclusive to the Ultimate Edition) as individual Blu-ray releases later this year and can be pre-ordered from various online retailers. Further information surrounding this Collectors Edition release, and the individual Blu-ray sets, can be found on the Anime Limited blog.
