In a rather surprising update Anime Limited have revealed that they are planning to release the spin-off series Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU as a stand-a-lone Blu-ray release at some point in the near future.

According to a recent update on the Anime Limited Blog it’s explained that Anime Limited will be releasing the original series, as well as it’s sequel The Second Raid, as stand-a-lone Blu-ray releases in the coming months. Once the individual seasons have been released the distributor then plans to release the spin-off series , Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU, as it’s own individual set.

The two Full Metal Panic sets are the first season and The Second Raid season as a standard edition Blu-ray sets. We’ll put this out there now, but we are looking to make a set of Full Metal Panic Fumoffu available down the line as well. Expect these to be available to pre-order from our web shop in coming weeks.

What’s interesting about this announcement is that Anime Limited had previously stated in the past that Full Metal Panic: FUMOFFU would not be released as a stand-a-lone set and that it would only be released as part of the ‘Ultimate Edition’ collection which saw all three seasons bundled into a single box at a premium price.

It’s unclear what caused this decision but those who opted to skip the Ultimate Edition of Full Metal Panic, which we have unboxed in the past and discovered it to be rather disappointing due to it’s lack of assets, can now own all three seasons within standard blu-ray form.

In any event it will be interesting to see what Anime Limited has in store for these individual sets and in turn what the packaging and artwork will look like.
