After a slightly delayed release the penultimate finale into the Psycho-Pass anime franchise arrives in the form of a feature-length-film and it is has been brought to us as a Collectors Edition Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack courtesy of UK Distributor Anime Limited, with dubbing handled by FUNimation. This being said what can one expect to receive from this Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack release of the film? Well let’s find out in our latest unboxing article.
It goes without saying that Anime Limited are keen to produce ‘premium’ quality sets, as seen by majority of their catalogue, and with this Collector’s Edition release of Psycho-Pass: The Movie it’s no different. Unlike Patema Inverted, Expelled in Paradise or Psychic School Wars there isn’t a sleeve that wraps around the artbox and instead Anime Limited have opted for the ‘old-skool’ presentation, such as Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning, which is a rather bizarre choice when the contents of the artbox can – at times – fall out relatively easily.
In regards to inside the artbox then the film, which comes presented on DVD and Blu-ray, uses the original American FUNimation disc masters so we receive the same disc content as those within America. The discs themselves meanwhile come packaged within inside the traditional digipack packaging with two sides of artwork; each of which blend well with the outer packaging that is the chipboard artbox.
In addition to the digipack and the on-disc content, which sees the film presented in both English and Japanese 5.1 Audio with a selection of promotional materials and trailers, we have the booklet featuring all-sorts of unique information. This artbook, although small, is relatively packed with content ranging from character bios, artwork and even interviews with Japanese cast members. It’s kind of amusing that a small booklet such as this features a variety of information; but it is included with the film.
Psycho-Pass: The Movie may be available as a Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack in America, with the set easily matching the American releases of Season 1 and Season 2, but this Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack of the film is a better product – even if it does use the same disc assets as the american counterpart. Why exactly is this? Well the packaging may get damaged, such as mine already having a packaging defect, but it features a nice prestnable chipboard art, that’s completely clean due to stickers and paper info sheet being attached, as well as an extensive booklet for added benefit.
Psycho-Pass: The Movie is now available within the UK as a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack.
