Anime Limited Cancels Home Video Release of Rainy Cocoa

It’s very rare for a home video release of an anime series to be cancelled, especially after a distributor has gone to the trouble of licensing it; but that’s exactly what’s happened with Anime Limited’s UK release of Rainy Cocoa.
Rainy Cocoa was spotted for a DVD release via FUNimation UK earlier this year with pre-orders opened shortly after; however as of August of this year Anime Limited opted to put the release ‘on hold’ due to the fact that only two pre-orders had been received. Well after months of discussion, and potential consumer reasearch, the distributor have opted to cancel the entire project.
Interestingly enough it’s not the first time that Anime Limited have opted to ‘drop’ a release; as Short Peace, the collection of animated shorts which Bandai Namco Entertainment previously released as a Game & Blu-ray Hybrid disc a few years back, has also been put on the back burner with no foresable release in sight.
Of course while an entire series being cancelled for a UK release is rare it is common for release formats to change; for instance Manga Entertainment UK had previously cancelled Blu-ray release of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but were then released several years later, while the Blu-ray variations of X’AMD and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya were cancelled altogether.
In any event those wishing to own a ‘physical’ release of Rain Cocoa will have to import the american DVD release of the series.
