STUDIOCANAL Begins When Marine Was There Blu-ray Replacement Scheme

Ever since the launch of STUDIOCANAL’s UK Blu-ray release of When Marine was There we have heard reports that the disc was defective; with owners reporting that the Blu-ray disc either struggled to play on their player or froze during playback and in the event that it did play the Blu-ray player would buzz incredibly loud as if it was overheating from reading the disc.
In any event STUDIOCANAL have been relatively cagey about the issue, which prompted most anime fans to simply return the disc; however the distributor have now issued a replacement scheme whereby those affected can send in their faulty disc and receive a new one.
We have established that there is a player-specific problem affecting the When Marnie Was There Blu-ray disc. A new disc is being replicated and will be available in the coming weeks in October.
Most customers will not experience any issues with playback of the Blu-ray but if you have been affected, you can send your faulty Blu-ray disc along with your name, address and e-mail to:

Ironically enough while this fixes the playback issues of the Blu-ray disc some owners are reporting that the Collector’s Edition release of When Marine was There, which came packaged inside a digipack sleeve with artcards, is suffering from packaging defects whereby – once opened – the artcards will not fit inside the sleeve and in turn causes the packaging to become damaged.
It seems StudioCanal’s Blu-ray release of When Marine was There has been a bit of a botched release, which is bizarre when their past releases have seemingly been fine. The DVD version however currently has no reported issues or defects.
