Following on from the announcement last week that Psycho-Pass director Naoyoshi Shiotani would be attending this October MCM London Comic Con the organisers have now announced that Evangelion Animator Takeshi Honda , for both the original TV Series and ReBuild films, will also be attending the event.
Just like with the previous announcement Takeshi Honda will be treated as the ‘Anime Guest of Honour’ and as such attendees should be able to receive one free signature during selective times at the event. Specific details about Takeshi Honda presence at the event have yet to be revealed; but it is a welcome addition to the event – especially to those who are long-standing Evangelion fans.
But who exactly is Takeshi Honda? Well he originally made his debut as a character designer on 1994’s Metal Fighter Miku, Takeshi Honda has worked on a wealth of well-known anime titles – including the late, great Satoshi Kon’s Millennium Actress and Perfect Blue, Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo and The Wind Rises and Mamoru Hosoda’s The Boy and the Beast. Other credits include Kill la Kill, When Marnie Was There, A Letter to Momo, Space Dandy and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
After working on the original Neon Genesis Evangelion, Takeshi Honda returned to the famous sci-fi franchise when creator Hideaki Anno rebooted it as Rebuild of Evangelion. Joining Anno’s Studio Khara, Honda acted as mechanical animation director on Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, animation director on Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and chief animation director on the latest in the series, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
Those wishing to see, and potentially meet, Takeshi Honda can do so at the upcoming October London MCM Comic Con, which takes place between the 28th October – 30th October, with further details and ticket availability found on the official website.
