Touhou Genso Wanderer & Touhou Double Focus European Release Dates Announced

In a rather surprising, but slightly expected, announcement NIS America have revealed that they will be releasing the rougelike JPRG Touhou Genso Wanderer as well as the 2D Platformer Touhou Double Focus within Europe during February 2017 for the PS4 and PS Vita.

The surprising part of this announcement is that those who purchase the physical version of Touhou Genso Wanderer on the PS4 will also receive a digital code Touhou Double Focus (for a limited time only); meanwhile those who purchase the game digitally will have to buy Touhou Double Focus seperately. It’s a relatively bizzre incentive so we can only assume that the digital prices for both Touhou Genso Wanderer and Touhou Double Focus will be cheaper than the retail version of Touhou Genso Wanderer.

So what exactly can you expect from each game? Well NIS America have been kind enough to provide us with some synopsis and a gameplay trailer for each title.

Touhou Genso Wanderer is a roguelike RPG set within the expansive Touhou Project which invites the player to play as Reimu, the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, to investigate the latest incident to take place in the world of Gensokyo. Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of characters from the Touhou Project universe, discover mountains of loot—each piece of which is valuable thanks to the game’s item fusion system—and test your mettle with your favorite Touhou girl in tow as your adventuring partner in this approachable take on the roguelike genre.

Touhou Genso Wanderer will be released onto the PS4 (as both a retail disc and digital download) and PS Vita (as a digital download) during February next year. Those who purchase the game at launch will receive a digital download code for Touhou Double Focus.

Touhou Double Focus After getting sucked into a magical book, Aya and Momiji must find their way back home. Explore every nook and cranny to unravel the mystery of the Book World! Along the way, the two run into many other residents of Gensokyo. Some come asking for help while others blame Aya for causing the incident. Help or defeat everyone you meet to give Aya her biggest story yet!

Both Touhou Genso Wanderer, which will be available for the PS4 (in both Retail and Digital formats) and PS Vita (digital only), and Touhou Double Focus, which will be released onto the PS4 and PS Vita as a digital only title, will be available from the 10th February 2017 within the UK and Europe; these games will also be made available within America on the 7th February 2017.
